In @Strat’s defense, as the top guild, you face the ones who finished 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, and Bracket 2 runner up from the previous week.
In comparison, if they were second for the week, they get to face the teams that finished 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and Bracket 2 winner. As you can see, they have all of the top while 1st gets to dodge a few.
Now I don’t know the Xbox depth but on ps4, there’s a big drop from 1-3 and the rest (ok there’s a gap from 1 and 2/3 but they’ve been working on closing it and 4th has been challenging lately as well.) So 1st ends up with 1 hard fight and 1 moderate fight with 4 easy ones. 2nd has 2 hard ones, 2 moderate ones and 2 easy ones although that bracket 2 team has been very strong this week.
Overall, 1st does have the 2nd easiest schedule for the week while 2nd has the hardest.
Thanks for this depth explanation of how system is calculated. I was not aware of exactly how it was calculated. This week we have our 2 main GW rivals to fight. But they could change system so last weeks top6 guilds will fight against each other. Its ok for me.
If you consider that the 3 guilds that finish usually at ranks 2 to 4 (The Alliance, Gems assassins and The Unforgiven) also have bonus statue of 50%, then how do we have an advantage compared to the 3 other guilds?
Not to say that you’re back peddling…But you kind of are, saying that the Devs, nor GoT broke GWs. You said that in the title of your post for crying out loud. As far as being childish…Do you see me post snapping fingers?
@Shiratori Thanks for giving a detailed explanation in this specific thread that the hard coded bracket rankings are completely unbalanced. I knew based on Truxons comments did not bother to follow the hyperlink I included in my post to read your excellent writeup plus research. And I NEVER wrote the top guild should only battle two Guilds, that’s as unfair as the current system we have.
I’m glad he now knows the bracket system is heavily biased now. To me personally its a small issue that should be fixed with the next update rather then in a few months… or year… or never.
Oh and I’m in the #2 Guild so every week we always have the most difficult set of matchups of any Guild in Guild Wars and I’m fine with that for now. (but its should be adjust to be fair for EVERYONE in a update)
Ironically, 3rd place has the easiest schedule. They get both of the bracket 2 transplants, avoid the #1 guild, and only top fights are vs 2 and 5. So to stay 2nd every week is pretty impressive.
Maybe later when I have more time I’ll give the full breakdown.
I think now that you figured it out they better fix it. And switch it up more weekly.
I think they keep it that way so there is less work but with mathematicians around, they keep the devs busy.
Thanks, we actually failed to get 2nd once a few weeks ago when I was on vacation, and a few others were out as well. In hindsight that was the select sauce (coming in 3rd). As the following week we took 1st place for a bit on at least three different occasions during the week. It has been the only time since GW released that any Guild other than GoT was in the top spot. (even briefly)
There is a noticeable point difference between the easy brackets #3 & #1 and harder team brackets #2.
Do you know if the developers been alerted to their mistake when crafting the hard coded bracket system?

First off im new here but long standing member of got. In my opinion first place in gw should have an easier route for the next week (2,4,6,7,8). Just like in any professional sports playoffs, bracketing setups always favor the number one seed. Only way to get that privilege is to be number one.
Usually takes me close to an hour to do the five matches because im eyeing every gem from above that could fall and give my opponent an advantage. Ive improved weekly on gw to the point where last week i was 700 points from perfect and this week on pace for high 36k. Also was still beat out last week for paragon cause our members are that highly skilled. Me and the rest work too hard for those points that youre claiming is biased.
