Not surprised. But upset.
I think they changed the 16 gem spawn to 13 gems to match the other looping dragons (Elemaugrim, Ishtara, etc.), but the 50% chance to create a Ć3 wildcard feels unneccesary. We would still have to make use of the green or purple gems that it could create because those colors wouldnāt loop into itself.
People that donāt have Stellarix could still use this, and I was going to experiment with using it instead of Diamantina in dragonās claw restrictions, but now Iām not so sureā¦
Yeah, mana cost increase, gem spawn decrease and 3rd trait ā¦ 3x nerf seems like overkill, but I guess theyāre playing it safe after Takshaka. I agree the 3rd trait nerf isnāt great. 50% chance traits donāt feel good in Gems of War.
On an unrelated note:
I wish I could dump Immortal Abaddonās 3rd trait (which it doesnāt synergize with Daemon Portals at all) for a regular version of Chromaticeaās 3rd trait. The sole purpose of a lv 30 Abaddon isā¦ 1 Daemonic Portal Gem per turn which it canāt pop on its own and has no boost ratio. Mega-zzz
Hi. Hey. Hello. Rare Kafka appearance in Spoilers thread
I got flagged down that this info was on Taransworld so thought I better come comment on it seeing as itās out there for all you GoW data super spies.
The pass is not tied to Guild Wars game play itself. It is in the Guild Wars menu but nothing it rewards should be P2W in Guild Wars.
When it was mentioned to the team, I was happy that it sounded like a good compromise in that we did need to create a new offer for the update but that it wouldnāt affect the GW experience.
I donāt know the exact contents of the Pass yet but weāre all on the same page over here: GW should never be P2W, it is a skill based event.
Extra Guild Wars battles will also not be purchasable.
The most P2W it will get will be along the lines of the old Sentinels - a feature that was and will be available for in game resources. We didnāt extend it beyond that. Nothing you can purchase for real money should give you a direct advantage in Guild Wars.
Thank you, @Kafkaš¦
I understand that you guys need to make money to keep updating and adding new features to this game. Itās why this game has lasted for over 10 years.
But please. Leave monetization out of guild wars. But like you said, it should be a skill test to see how deep your knowledge and understanding of the game is and how careful you make gem matches and decisions. There is always an extra turn somewhere.
As a side note, it might be better to leave Immortals out of guild wars, but I donāt know how the community feels about this. We donāt know what āthe newā guild wars will be like.
Sharing this far and wide - thanks, great news
Has there been any internal discussions that Gems might be entering a territory where thereās a few too many Paid Passes to keep track of, let alone actually pay for?
Thanks for the headās up. I know itās disliked to comment on spoilers, but sometimes itās really good to get ahead of bad feelings about stuff that might be coming up and correct expectations before they sour.
Glad GW is staying free of P2W. Whether I end up liking the new version of not, thatās a relief, at least. Definitely feels like thereās too many passes and too much monetisation being pushed. I know the game needs to make money, but thereās a limit how far stuff can be pushed before players lose interest. I hope this new pass, whatever it is, isnāt a step too far, but monetisation of GW definitely would have been.
Weāve been discussing the feedback around the packs, offers and passes:
- Players have been saying they feel like too many are being pushed, feels bad
- Content of passes not being as desirable, needs updating
- Mention of value of resources/items/packs not aligning with how players feel about those items
- Requests to extend VIP Levels past 20 and to update the bonuses for VIP Levels 1 through 20 as well.
- Players have mentioned pricing options, more options for lower price points may be more desirable - while simultaneously not ignoring the first 3 points.
Those are the broad feedback points about in app purchases weāve received. Thereās definitely a lot more detailed feedback weāve received which would fit under each of those broader points.
I donāt have any outcomes from these discussions to share though sorry, itās ongoing.
Erm edit: Obviously the overarching - the less P2W the better.
Which is generally a philosophy we uphold as much as possible - even since before the game was first released.
Almost nothing in the game is pay walled for example. The things that are pay walled arenāt meta.
This is important to the team.
I appreciate the āalmost anythingā sentiment.
Hereās the almostā¦
Karakoth upgrade has been paywalled for years now. Which is made 3 times more annoying by the kingdom upgrade offers offering end game players Ingots at least 3 times a week.
I wonāt deign to speak for āthe communityā, merely myself.
And my opinion is thus: If Immortals were limited to one per team, offense or defense, I think Iād be fine with it. To me, the Immortals are ā in part ā a counter to the seeming ubiquitousness of Zuulāgoth and Ctharrasque in every mode where they are permitted by the restrictions. Strategy takes a hit at times when itās āone button / one killā and the challenge becomes how to fill that beast more quickly and/or which enemy troop is most dangerous and needs to be nuked first.
Mind you, Iād also like to see some sort of counter developed to the Immortal, much like Iād like to see a(n additional) counter to Stellarix/Diamantina so that those donāt become the braindead, ubiquitous play. Maybe something with the re-spec of the spell/ability of the Siegebreaker and/or Godslayer would work there.
I donāt believe itās intelligent game design when thereās something thatās obviously better than everything else. Iād prefer a more nuanced system akin to ārock, paper, scissorsā where there are powerful tools available for the player, but each of those tools has an obvious flaw that can be exploited. Leading to a scenario where youād analyze what your opponent is trotting out there and pick an appropriate counter in the absence of a sledgehammer that simply crushes everything.
But I may as well wish for The Moon while Iām at it. (The celestial body orbiting the earth, not the Tarot card.) I might even have better odds of obtaining The Moon.
In the context of a dev talking about almost anything not being paywalledā¦ Yes.
Nothing used to be paywalled in Gems of War in terms of progression. In this game, as well as life. Iām much more willing to spend money if I want to. Rather than if I āhave toā.
So no, the intent to get players to spend money on a weapon does the absolute opposite of have me spend 5 more dollars on the game after Iāve already spent well above my share to keep the lights on.
I see that Indrajitās Palace expansion planned for January 17. But it must be Hell Gate to be expanded before Indrajitās Palace. Did something go wrong? Problems with Hell Gate?
(And I still do not see quest maps for some kingdoms in GoW Graphics: Silverglade, Vulpacea, Mydnight, Crypt Keepers, Indrajitās Palace).
