[reported] Unable to use crystal when close to population limit, due to 68 xp

Platform, device version and operating system:
PC/Steam
Screenshot or image:

What you were expecting to happen, and what actually happened:
Due to conversion, my Mydnight kingdom’s xp is not whole hundred, but with 68 plus.

When I want to use crystal to level it up from 60 to 61, the game show this popup

and then the “Exchange” button greys out.

For comparison, I can use crystal to level up Darkstone kingdom from level 60 to 61, which experience is at whole hundred.

Note: it is possible level up Mydnight through completing task. I was able to level up to 60 in that way when level 60 was the limit of population then.

How often does this happen? When did it begin happening?
Since 9.2

Steps to make it happen again
Try to upgrade a kingdem where experience is not full hundred.

While I didn’t face an issue upgrading, Mydnight being the only kingdom without the whole 100s is mildly infuriating :poop::vulcan_salute:

You have 3.1 mil Global population and you need 3.2 mil. Global population, this is why is exchange button grey, upgrade other kingdoms for increasing population.

You didn’t get my point, Fusnix. I can use crystal to upgrade Darkstone to level 61, but not Mydnight.

Yeah i see it, 68 xp is weird(propably bug) but still your Midnight kingdom is level 61 and you can’t upgrade to level 62 because Global population, your Darkstone kingdom is lvl.60 and you upgraded to 61.

No. See the first screenshot. Mydnight is also at level 60.

It moved to 61, then you got the popup. There’s likely two effects overlapping here.

On first screenshot yes and able to upgrade, but on second screenshot is Midnight on 61 and unable to upgrade because population

Sigh.
All I need to do from screenshot 1 to screenshot 2 and 3 is click the + button of blue crystal a single time. Since the exchange bottun is greyed out, I can’t bring Mydnight to level 61. click the - button in screenshot 3 bring it back to screenshot 1.

Yeah I am seeing this bug too, because of the extra points, as soon as you add a crystal it skips to the next level progression. So if I was upgrading from 29 to 30 it suddenly skips to show me upgrading to level 31. It is almost like the code is rounding up and thinking you’ve already promoted a level and doing all the calculations for the level after.

Ah, that makes more sense, the check kicks on too early.

Can confirm the odd numbers in Mydnight also on Xbox. Also having x68 all the time. Didn’t upgrade past 50, so i can’t say if it’s blocking me from further upgrade.

This will be one of the issues resolved in the hotfix

Mydnight ist not the only affected Kingdom, Glacial Peaks also lost the whole100 Progression somewhere one the way… @Jeto

The figure seems to arise from the inexplicable choice of values for the conversion, whereas lower level/power kingdoms would have converted into non-100s values, with now no apparent way to tidy it up.

Is there any reason one would want to tidy this up? It’s just a number growing larger over time, there isn’t really any benefit for it to be locked into a multiple of 100. Especially since future changes might also make kingdom xp farmable in some way, at very low rates.

There will be a small amount gained each week from underspire as kingdom xp and perhaps more sources. So that will mess the numbers up eventually, im not too stressed about it.

I’m not sure if its me. But it DOES feel like it messes up the upgrade somehow.

I feel like it costs an extra 100 but it could just be visual

EDIT i checked specifically now when upgrading and it doesn’t take extra, I was just over clicking.

Would be nice to use more than one crystal at a time. Like a slider or something

No logical reason worth fighting for, just the mildly infuriating non-100 number whereas all others are whole 100s.

This coming from a person who has all Hoards at 100, except for one at 200 for the achievement.

The really funny thing is that I have all hoards at 100, because it looked neater than collecting the achievement. :joy:

They are not going to stay at whole 100s, due to event rewards. Personally, I’d like to see a single point of kingdom xp added to each room in Underspire, similar to glory. If someone really wants to hit special numbers, they could do it that way. And it’s also an extra incentive to explore the whole map, without opening up kingdom xp to unlimited farming.

I got one to 200 for the trophy, and now want them all at 200, so it looks neat. Totally understandable.

Would make it useful to buy extra torches and finish the last few rooms at the end of corridors, that you know don’t go anywhere. I often have like 1 torch left when I do a full run, and don’t bother using it if I have no rooms that give decent stuff. So, if I can use it and get even 1 kingdom xp, that’d be useful. Maybe throw that in a suggestion post, so it definitely gets seen?
