Please just go back. The board is hurting my eyes concentrating on it and the stats on the troop cards are too hard to read.
The UI has cost me in guild wars today and resulted in 2 losses. I wonât be able to meet my guilds requirements anymore and soon will result in me finally uninstalling this game. It will be a sad day when i have to leave the guild Iâm in and the game too but i live in hope that the UI will revert back to the old one. #prayforgow
Theyâre point was that they shouldâve made it look more like Skyrim.
And I think itâs on itâs way to that. But most people are calling for a complete revert. They donât want to slightly change the new one.
Yeah, that was my point. I think it could be better than the old, but it needs a lot of work. I think calling for a revert is silly. Thereâs nice elements, and overall I donât think much is worse than before. But a lateral/horizontal move isnât a good use of time. And there are some really glaring issues.
I like the new ui. I just wish they didnt remove the trair and spell filters
Love it, hope they improve on it and make it even better.
The UI change is just ok, it does need to be tweaked somewhat though. I think i can see what they were going for, with some slight adjustments it will be fine. I think its good that there is evolution to the game and its interface. Without those changes the game ages and its no longer as visually appealing to new players. As a graphic designer myself, the most glaring issue I think was that too much, but not all was done at once and it has upset the masses. Its like a hybrid of both versions right now since there are still old UI elements. Its hard to gauge a middle ground in this process though, so i can sympathize with the dev team. Overall i like the map overlay/buttons. I like the new look of cards. The battle load screen with a featured card is nice (although the images in the card seem to go black for me every time) In battle the board looks fairly similar with the exception of the cards, which i can see you placed dark gradients under numbers to make them more legible (maybe stroke or a solid shape underneath?). The victory and reward screens seem nicer to me, looks updated and somewhat more serious. I think once you have all elements switched over it will fine, people will just need to get used to it. Great work on keeping up with the game though and trying to make it fresh for the user base. Its a shame that more of these people donât appreciate the amount of effort that you put into this.
@Zippity
It was me. I was trying to give the developers an example of a good black and white design in a Fantasy setting with a readable font.
These scifi rounded edges everywhere and bright colors might work elsewhere like in an industrial design BUT not here.
Im not sure changing a beautiful Fantasy Ui to an horrible one coming straight from the 80s will be appealing to new players. And if you add the fact that it make suffer the eyes of many players (me included) after some minutes of play, the conclusion is easy: Remove this absolute crap!
Wow, from the 80âs? No arguing with you on that opinion, but wow, did you actually do any gaming in the 80âs?
I know I did. I had an original PONG game, all that. Yes, it is true, some of us olds started gaming back in the ancient days and actually still do game. Having said that, this new UI looks like ass.
I played Nintendo games back then, and Sega Master System, and Intellivision⌠Computer games were out of my budget back then, but I did play Kings Quest 2 at a friends house on a Tandy, either way, this UI looks modern to me, nothing like old 80âs games.
Iâm old too and did plenty of gaming in the 80s. Sears pong machine, Atari 2600, Mattel handheld, C64. There are a number of older players that enjoy this game. @anon43026234 might have overstated worst update ever, But it doesnât change the opinion this itâs very bad. I personally took a big break from gaming in my teens trough most of college, picked gaming back up when I started working.
Hey, come on now, Skyrim is a totally different game. GOW is a LOT of UI, Skyrim is a huge, visually aesthetic open world RPG that needs a simple, user friendly system. I guess I just feel this UI has no character at all, and what it does have, doesnât feel like fantasy. Neon icons on the map screen, really? Doesnât mix well, imo.
Such a shame. Hope this hodge-podge can be fixed or reverted, itâs giving me a headache.
I wasnât really emphasizing the gamerâs age in the post I replied to, I did a lot of gaming in the 80âs, I was shocked someone that gamed in the 80âs would think the new UI looks like something from the 80âs in terms of game UI. If you recall, PC games back then still had Text commands, and you had to do a lot more typing and very little clicking.
The UI for the Soul Forge and Dungeon looked great.
These new changes look awful.
The in battle UI is fine (to me)
BUt the main game UI, and the map etc is really bad.
No they didnât look great, they looked out of place and messy.
Whatever, this new UI looks like retro style, like an old UI. Like if the last UI was version 1.9 then this one looks like version 1.1
What was on a nice packed overview before is now something to scroll through. The battle results, why do I have to scroll through the rewards now when before it all fit nicely on one tenth of the screen?
Also it looks so large (even larger as before), I mainly play on a monitor and not my phone.
The black borders/shadows on the world map are now even more annoying than before.
Before I clicked on the big fat button in the middle of the screen to start a battle, now I must click on the bar somewhere below.
Somehow I always hoped with a new update theyâd finally show the troops strength on the team screen and that I could move my teams with drag and drop and sort them - my teams are a messy order.
Troop card still shows no kingdom?
Whereâs the traits and spell filter?
I said it looks like 80s because its so minimal black and whiteâŚnothing to do with a Fantasy game. But yes I played video games in the 80s (even in late 70s) . My name Truxton and my guilds name (The guild of Thieves) both come from games I played in the 80s. Many players here are 80s gamers.
But about this new Ui, I just played it again and it hurted my eyes again. Also now the playing board is not solid! We see a picture through it! Another dumb decision that fatigue the eyes.
