Well… with this update Gems of War will became Gems of Micromanagement) Next couple of days i’ll need to click so much buttons to loot any faction troops needed to raise and ascend them all and lvlup… uhhh But it looks nice and now i can see stats of my kingdom) and rise up some kingdom much more i could earlier. Let’s see what bugs it’ll bring
Actually upgrading everything was very fast and easy. So I have to say, I really like this update. Even when there’s a little room here and there for improvement.
Liking the overhaul. Once I get more used to the layout of the UI. I feel I have more control and ‘now-ness’ over what I get to upgrade/level. That’s a good thing. And it’s reduced the number of resources/currencies in the game which is always a good thing.
Well the new system looks decent, but the conversion math seems screwy to me. I’m pretty sure I lost a fair bit of tributes, though it’s too early to be sure. Couple I got gave me 11 and 8 tributes, when I was getting like 14 or 15 before.
I’m mostly happy with the update. Still think the way the conversion was handled was off, players shouldn’t have been penalised for upgrading kingdoms. Other than that and a few new bugs, I’m pleased with the new system.
Functionality, it seems.. fine. I’m obligated to myself to hold back celebrations and wait and see instead. I can’t shake the feeling that something fell through the cracks and we’ll be feeling it soon, so I don’t want to celebrate yet.
There’s also the conversion rate where 12 Red Crystals and 3 Rainbow Crystals feels rather light for a Campaign pass… 3,000 XP not counting the challenges.. is that right?
The 3 extra challenges give 5 Red Crystal on the tier 3s and if the tier 2s gave 1 Rainbow Crystal each, then the challenges are now giving more value than the paid pass..
So a good aim for me as a moderate serious, endgame player is to aim for getting some Kingdoms up to level 50, so I get tribute chance maxed on each kingdom? Will take quite some time for me to get all of them to level 50, I think.
I kinda like this update, it has been a while since I got so much to work on when it came to Kingdoms. Before I was locked to needing 28 book of magic etc. lol
So, I don’t think players are really being penalized for having upgraded their Kingdoms. Old Levels/Power Levels translated into the new Prestige Levels at a very comparable level. They additionally were particularly generous with the one time conversion, and I think that’s where people feel that they lost out.
The only real solution to that though is for them to be less generous with that one time conversion, and while I can understand that those who had more stockpiled got a bigger one-time infusion of power, I can’t say that I’d really argue for them to be less generous with the conversion. It was really nice seeing all those books translate over into a solid amount of crystals.
I had previously estimated that I was 1-2 years from completing all the Kingdoms to L20/PL30. Last night after the conversion I was able to get all of my Kingdoms to Prestige 50 and all of my magic Kingdoms to Prestige 60. That’s a solid power bump, and puts me ahead of where I would have otherwise been by a considerable degree. While I would have been farther ahead if I had stockpiled more resources because the conversion was more generous for unspent resources rather than spent I still haven’t lost anything.
The only concern that I’m left with is that PvP will feel less like “must play” content (which I like). I just really wish the amount of VP required to complete the PvP season would be dropped to about half for next season.
