What you were expecting to happen, and what actually happened:
Journey bosses are still rising by 8 levels after regular battles rather than 6 as it should be per this announcement. This bug (and corresponding graphic) was identified by Shirley. See circled boss levels. This appears to happen after the boss suprasses level 250.
The announcement referenced in the OP doesn’t mention that, it just says the +8 was getting changed to +6, with no mention of it only being for the first 60 battles.
Opponents in Journey do get ABSURDLY hard deep into the event.
I have a very unpleasant feeling. Once again, the developers are not giving us full information. And then they nicely explain that everything that is happening is not a bug.
It’s as if I sat down to play with cheats, and they are constantly inventing new rules.
Or it is like the beginning of “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”, only in our case there even was no announcement.
@Bramble , @Kafka please point out the line I the Journey changes post that says you have only applied the changes up to 60 battles.
Journey Events Changes
We have listened to player feedback, and reviewed the event data from the last 2 Journey events, and decided to make another change to the level of Journey Event Bosses (which appear every 5 battles). They have changed from gaining +8 levels to +6 levels. This will slow down how fast the battle difficulty increases in the event as players progress. This should be about a further 10% decrease in difficulty. Battles will still give the same amount of Miles as before.
Our guild is down 5 players as well as several more being away last week. That meant some of us had to go deep in the event. I was facing enemies with 900 life and armour. Even Takshaka needs many casts to take them down, and you start losing miles after 10 turns.
Enemy Commander Dawnheart’s spell would hit my team 4 times for 394 damage each time. That’s kinda ridiculous.
Do enemy levels even have a cap in Journey? They seem to get stronger endlessly. If they stopped at 500, it’d be more reasonable.
As it is, high level journey is insanely hard unless you have access to high chance devour, lethal damage or looping. The double restriction on journey troop selection makes that a rare occurrence.
No, well yes, eventually all of the skill levels max out at 1000. LOL, but true, and yet the battle level values keep rising. Seriously, I ran out of sigils last week at Level 1,016.
With two Takshakas and Rope Dart I was able to hold my own last week and scored quite highly. Many players scored more than me.
Still, I hate the Journey event. Quite passionately. I would love to dig a deep hole and bury the event never to be seen or heard from again. It’s frustrating enough for experienced players. For newer ones….!!
The only thing i see when i’m doing “Journey event”, is the low frequency of stat bonus and the bonus doesn’t apply for all guild player. Since the 7.2 Update, this event is boring and more difficult.
If the boons applied to all guild members that would make things a bit better for sure.
A different troop paradigm is needed now i think as well. I’d rather have something like deathclaw from the first journey than the same old thing we keep getting.
But even better if we could get a unique troop each time that does something relevant and particular to the general troop type. Preferably keeping the damage and mana generating general paradigm, with something extra each time like silence/shield/increase ally stats, whatever makes sense for that troop type.
The good thing about Deathclaw was that he had a life steal and some mana accumulation, so he wasn’t completely useless. I do not trust the devs to re-work journey troops to be more useful, but if they copied and pasted the (steal xx life and explode 3 gems), I would be content with it.
Honestly, the biggest changes that would make the journey event much better are as follows:
