The chance to encounter a mimic chest seems to be too low. We will need tons of tokens to medal troops, that was nearly impossible with the old explore mode.
Mimic chests do x2 or x5 the rewards…but if you hardly ever encounter them I don’t see how we are able to upgrade our troops more quickly.
If the intention was to provide us with more tokens, then please also configure a better drop rate. Perhaps 33% for the x2 chest and 10% for the x5 chest.
Btw, I love the idea where new mythics drop from grinding explore! That makes the hunt for tokens worth the grind
With these numbers (which is of course not enough data yet), it would mean that the earn rate of tokens increased with almost 20%. Which is actually not thàt bad.
Based on OP suggested drop rate, that would be a ~43% increase, which would be too high i guess.
It would be very cool to have a mimic explore event with increased chances, basically how a vault event works.
Edit: practically, the increase of tokens vs invested time is slightly lower than calculated because of the additional battles you need to do, which actually slow you down again.
Dropping this here as well since people seem to be interested in drop / appear rates. No mythic drop in any of the accounts still (3 accounts across my friends and family)

This is more than 1000 boss chests right now, so the data should start to get better. If I were to guess about % rates, to keep things simple, I would have imagined that they have:
You forgot to mention that 70 % of the GoW players only play like the 20 minutes bus trip to work. Reaching 129 chests takes probably 48 hours of constant playing.
This game should never be based around the 1 % hardcore players, but the average GoW player.
Well, those bus trip people shouldn’t be (and most probably aren’t) bothered about these things as they will never ever “complete” the game anyway. It’s not even their goal. Devs could as well crank it up to a 200% increase and they would still not make it even close.
Reaching 129 chests takes at most 10h of explore 12 with the right team. Not sure where you got the 48h from.
I’m now at 54 chests without a mimic…but even at the drop rates stated…Grinding 10 hrs to get 3 mimic chests for a few more tokens…I’m not understanding the point of it. A 20% increase in the token yield is not helping anyone forward. Not even the most fanatic grinders.
I just hope there will be some event where the mimic drop rate is increased so you can grind tokens at a decent rate. Just like the vault event

This is now almost 1500 boss chests. Mimic rate looks stable around 10% but hoard mimic rate dropped considerably (from what I thought 20% first) to 17%. It might be bad RNG or that we had better luck at the beginning. Although there is very little data available (only 16 hoard mimic chests yet), still 0 drops across all 3 accounts.
I would believe 5% (and that would make sense to keep things simple, too).
We are collectively up-to 17 hoard mimic chest openings and still have not seen it. But at 5%, this is well within probability limits (if my math is correct, there is a 42% chance that we won’t see a hoard mimic drop over 17 chest openings with 5% drop rate).
