I’m currently ranked 46 on PvP on PS4 and have done about 350 matches. My “runic, Arcane and Celestial” drop rates are pretty close to what Tacet posted above. I’m getting them rarely but I’m getting them (think I’ve had 2 set of Celestial and about 10 sets of Arcane strangely I think only about 8 runic)
It isn’t stated anywhere, but on console we have tasks and one of the rotating tasks is “complete 8 explore battles in X kingdom”. This task can be completed by winning 8 PvP Battles against players from said X kingdom, given that you already have exploring unlocked in that kingdom. So pvp battles count as explore battles. I only do pvp when farming for celestials because of this.
The fact that the daily task for explores counts PvP battles incorrectly has nothing to do with the traitstone drop rates. Explore on console has 3x the odds of getting an arcane or celestial compared to PvP, just like it is supposed to.
If a pvp battle is counting as explore, it’s more likely that the droprates are the same as explore, not the other way around. In my experience, I get as many runics, arcanes and celestials from PvP as I get from explore. Many PS4 players know this. But feel free to test it for yourself.
OK, I have done hundreds of explores in the last few weeks and have been getting arcanes at a rate of approximately 1 in every 16 battles. Wednesday, I picked up 27 arcanes in explore over a couple hours while watching Netflix on a second screen. In the hour or two that I played PVP that day, I got arcanes once, though thankfully it was a double-arcane from Moa.
I have zero doubt that the drop rates in explore are appropriately adjusted, exactly as they are supposed to be. If you doubt me, feel free to try tracking results in both modes for a few hundred battles and let me know what you find.
Usually, you can get a lot more explores done per hour than PvP battles, especially 3 trophies. This is my reasoning for people getting the ilusion that explore droprates are better.
I could have kept quiet about this since talking about it may make devs Nerf PvP droprates to what they are in quests and challenges. I just thought I could help people from wasting too much time exploring, especially for celestials.
But since you have zero doubt, my advice doesn’t apply to you.
No, this isn’t an illusion. Drop rates for Arcanes and Celestials are actually better, per battle, in explore than they are in every other game mode. This was the whole purpose of introducing explore in the first place. When you add in the fact that a player with a fast, purpose-built explore team can clear battles at a rate of more than one per minute, it multiplies the benefit (assuming that your only objective is to obtain Arcanes and Celestials).
Oh, I think I see what you’re saying now. You’re not arguing that explore rates are too low, you think PvP rates are too high. In that case, I still think you’re wrong, but haven’t tracked my results to the same level of detail. Based on my impressions, though they may be unreliable, getting an arcane at a rate of about 1 in 50 battles is consistent with my results. If you’ve got evidence to the contrary, please let me know, and you can send it by PM if you don’t want it public.
