[known issue] Age Verification still block game launch after completing

hotfix is already in the works to get this resolved

Getting reports that despite completing the age verification process, players still cannot launch GOW

Again..

So, if you are not running 51 or higher, you won’t be able to launch. This is not a bug, and not something we can change. It’s a Google Play requirement.

If you are getting an error of ERROR_API_NOT_AVILABLE you just need to update your Google Play Store version. It should trigger automatically but if it doesn’t you can do this in the app.

If you are getting stuck being unable to launch into Gems of War and you do have v51+, if you:

  • completely close Gems of War
  • Log out of your Google Play account via the app
  • Log back in and complete any reverification if required
  • Only after logging back in, relaunching Gems of War

You may be able to access the game again, after going through those steps.

Hi, @Jeto) Please give us exact info about that - is it forced on Thursday cause some of our mates have an errors with an “age confirmation issues”

I’ve asked if it can wait till weekly reset, because I know some people are having issues with the Age Confirmation stuff.
But I haven’t yet had a reply

could this be resolved via your support tickets or is there any workaround knolegebase?

No, no need to submit a ticket at the moment. Currently waiting for a dev to look into why it’s still blocking people if their age has been verified

@Nagflar_dv are these reports from people in the US, and if so, what state?

Nah, they’re from Russia)

Are they using a VPN? Or is their Google account set to a different region

They do use a VPN but i have not a lot of statistics about that - it’s just couple of screens and stories. Some devices they use have a playmarket version below 51

Right.

So as mentioned, anything below 51 isn’t gonna launch - that’s not a bug and not something we can change

So, I need to know if anyone having this issue, is having it on 51 or higher.

It’s happening to a Texas guildmate with Google Play 52.1.

I’m in Texas too, but on PC and was not asked for it, though I did have to verify for one of the two social media sites I use (besides this one).

It’s only going to happen on Android devices, cos Google - unless you play via the Google Play store on PC.

I’ve added a heap of information and steps into an article on what has resolved this so far for some players

What should players do if they don’t have Google Play on their smartphones? For example, I have a player in my guild who has a Huawei smartphone that doesn’t have Google Play for obvious reasons. After installing update 9.3, he hasn’t been able to log into the game for two days because he gets an error that the Play Store app is not found on his device.

Can they install Google Play on their device?

This is what google suggests:

The Huawei does not natively support Google Play Services due to US trade restrictions, but you can safely access the Google Play Store using GBox or microG environment wrappers. [1, 2, 3, 4]

The easiest and safest methods to get Google Play up and running on your phone use tools directly available from Huawei’s official store: [1, 2]

Method 1: The GBox Method (Easiest)

GBox acts as a virtual environment that allows Google apps to run seamlessly on your phone. [1, 2]

  1. Open the official Huawei AppGallery on your phone.
  2. Search for GBox and tap Install.
  3. Open GBox and give it the necessary system permissions.
  4. Inside GBox, locate and tap the Google Play Store icon.
  5. Sign in with your normal Google/Gmail account.
  6. Long-press the Google Play icon inside GBox and select “Create Shortcut” to pin the Play Store right to your phone’s main home screen. [1, 2]

Method 2: The microG + Aurora Store Method (Native Feel)

If you prefer a more native implementation that lets apps run directly on your main operating system instead of a virtual sandbox, you can use the microG framework: [1]

  1. Open AppGallery, search for microG Companion and microG Services, and install both.
  2. Open your phone’s main settings, go to Apps, find the microG apps, and grant them Location and Device Registration permissions.
  3. Link your Google account directly inside the microG settings menu.
  4. Install the Aurora Store (either via AppGallery or a trusted browser download). Aurora Store serves as an open-source, mirror client of the Google Play Store database, allowing you to log in and download your purchases safely

Maybe this helps?

Relating to this, because yes, Huawei is not supported by Google Play services and Gems of War is specifically on Google Play, there is a chance there could be some issues.

But, yes, if you can install Google Play AND Google Play Services (available via System Services), then you should be able to verify your age.

But if you cannot install both of those apps, then there isn’t a lot on our side we can specifically. Again, Gems of War is supported via Google Play, so if you are downloading GOW via the APK or side loading etc, it would “technically” be unsupported.
Similar to when people play GOW via Bluestacks - it’s unsupported by us.
