Journey Event Scoring and Pathfinder Troop Rebalance information

I admit I used Todd in the Wargare section - due to lack of better options. However, I avoided the area for the most part. I haven’t used Egris in Stryx, though. I’ve used Phoenicia, and this week I’m using this team [1507,7304,6834,6821,3025,2,2,3,2,2,1,0,14030]
(Stormcaller, Raven sceptre, King of Ravens, Finesse, Captain Macaw)

It’s not the fault of Pathfinders if there are no decent options besides them, though. Having said that, if everyone is using Todd, you’ll still win against Todd with Todd most of the time due to getting first turn, and since there are so many areas, you can just go elsewhere.

But anyway, they could also have just banned Pathfinder troops from PvP if they concluded people’s options were globally that bad that everyone would resort to them.

If someone is hunting silver marks - they have no other choice but to play that region at least now and then.

I will, or I will not - all depends on the starting board and how quickly you can fill your pathfinder and start the loop. If it’s the enemy who gets the loop going first - you’re dead in the water.

I don’t know about you, but I’m playing games to win, not to lose over, and over, and over, and over again, or withdraw over, and over, and over again.

I hope the scoring for Journey will be adjusted, tho; the 10% difficulty reduction was not enough to make the event bearable :frowning:

I very rarely lose against Pathfinders. It happens, yeah, but it’s w/e and almost always because I was too lazy to switch my team out. I lose against other types of teams a lot more. I always lose at least once in the orc region, for eg. - no pathfinders there. However, I’ve never really cared about losing in PvP and often use it to level classes, and try out new stuff.

As for the marks, yeah, but there are always two areas, so you can avoid ones you hate mostly, and there are still 3 battles to pick from.

That’s another problem - the new PvP doesn’t allow you to switch teams easily… which actually makes the problem worse, not better.

There’s a pretty good argument to be made that most troop types don’t have enough viable options that those Journey Loopers became best by default, especially if someone doesn’t own the upper rarity troops.

At that point, its not the Journey troop’s fault that people use it. If anything, troops are meant to be used and its a miracle that Journey troops had any outside use.

I guess people are too used to all of those Raid/Invasion troops that are completely useless outside of those events.

I agree, that is extremely annoying. Also, that it sometimes seems to remember teams you set up the prior week/on a different device and sometimes not. I’ve come up with some great teams I cannot remember now, LOL.

It’s not only journey troops that will get overused, though. Any really good troops will be overused in their specific regions, which will be auto lose for newer players picking harder battles, although they might have won with a Pathfinder. Only mentioning newer players all the time, since this is meant to help them.

I have a smurf account on Xbox to have fun. I am lack of troops, so I was really happy about I had a solid pathfinder team what with the grinding is not horribly painful… Sadly it is destroyed now, sorry i meant “rebalanced”.
Maybe it will be better to give up that account, it does not worth the effort and the painful struggling.

Based on my experience from my main account, pathfinder teams can be painful opponent in Guild War, but if you can freeze the enemy this is not an issue anymore. From other perspective the Elementalist class, the hoard of Queen Beetrixes and the “interesting” RNG are much painful on GW.

As a casual player I do not care about if i lose sometimes PVP (except GW)… But still cannot understand why cannot I use my beloved Seekra Darkwood anymore in pve for farming classes (elf).

Absolutely agree with you. Mostly about the pity timer. This is fustrating when you collect chests for looting surely the new mythic friday troop, what should drop it 3 times.

But right now i would be happy if devs would cancel this dumb “rebalance” on these easily counterable troops. Or at least change the multiplier to 5 (or minimum 4)…

Found this online and it seems to show that your defense team isn’t your attack team ?

Yes, at the moment, this function is not working as intended; in inner and outer regions, the game puts together 4 random troops that match the restriction criteria, and in Central Spire - it looks like the game grabbed the old defenses (in old PvP, we could set our team of choice on defense) and saved them, and is offering us those, not the actual attack teams.

It worked properly for about 24h after the update and then stopped, most likely (but I have no proof, just these two things happened at the same time) as a part of a fix a different thing that wasn’t working as intended - namely the game didn’t save our attack teams and would keep going blank after changing regions, forcing us to recreate our attack teams over and over again.

Next update is likely to come sometime in mid-to-late February, so maybe we see a fix to that then.

So you got your wish granted and pathfinders were nerfed into oblivion. What happens next? People scramble around like a bunch of headless chicken for a while before settling for the next best team ABC which 87.93% of all players use. What then, you might ask? Well, it’s team ABC fighting team ABC morning, noon and night (you know, suppose they fixed the issue and now attack teams are actually saved as defense teams you have to fight) in a certain region. Now that would be fun, wouldn’t it? Maybe it would be for some, since there is no pathfinder involved anymore, but, generally speaking, hell no…What do you then, you might ask? Surely, you turn to your magic wand and call for nerf, nerf, Nerf, NERF something into oblivion! The cycle starts again…until all of the troops suck. You’re not solving the issue, you know, - simply trying to get rid of a littler problem by kicking the can further down the road instead of picking it up.

Heh, is there even straightforward way of dealing with it? Nerf something because of PvP and consequences everywhere else be damned, like we have now?
Maybe there should be an option alongside “Quick PvP battle” aptly named “Slow PvP battle” with limited or even completely switched off extra turns and play that to one’s heart’s content - no looping team would ever bother anybody. Sure, fights will get longer so increase battle rewards accordingly for slow mode only and then a player is free to choose what works best for them and nobody has to nerf anything.

I don’t think it was dwuemkas choice that they got nerfed tho.
Kafka has said why, they’ve 18 months of data, that they’ve made there decisions on.
Everyone is using there own personal playstyle or info from a guild of 30 or a Walmart guild alliance of maybe 100.
The Devs have gone off, 18 months of data on every player.
We need to stop the infighting now.
It’s 5 days later, they’ve made there decisions, iv never seen a decision reversed by them.
So let’s forget they why they were nerfed, or the I don’t use them I don’t see them delusion.
And let’s try and keep to the point of, we need new journey scoring

What makes you think we’ll get that new Journey scoring any time within the next 18 months? They didn’t acknowledge any issues with the current Journey event throughout the week. They left for the weekend without a word, abandoning us with this mess as if there hadn’t been any feedback at all. This is all set to get ignored entirely, because they’ve repeatedly stated they plan their development a year ahead, with zero room for anything like a Journey rework.

Next Journey event we’ll apparently get a Pathfinder that doesn’t even create gems in the Journey color, on which they’ll once again “collect and evaluate feedback”.

I don’t think we will.
The same way, no matter how many people complain that the troop has been changed, or that the troops weren’t an issue,or the PvP teams that are there a lot based on journey troops, seam to disappear for some people on here ,means anything to the Devs.
I was just trying to stop the blame game, it’s happened and we can’t change it, as they’ve planned the change for a while, based on there data, no on a couple of people moaning on the forum.
It’s a tiny bit annoying and tbh people saying use Todd against Todd teams are also saying use freeze, I mean maybe these people have classes I don’t have, but the journey troops use certain classes and how many of those classes have a freeze skill or trait.
So il assume we’re all adults, as they say the horse has bolted out of the stable, let’s move on.
And get over the blame game.

No one said use Todd against Todd and freeze them. People said you can use snap freeze or other freezes OR a Pathfinder, OR numerous other options. Theoretically, you could use pathfinders with a class with snap freeze, though, same as some people pop non-matching troops in, like queen beetrix. Lots of people use goblins with elementalist class in pvp defence. For Todd specifically, though, the spirit drain trait made him super useful against some other Pathfinders, as well as dangerous opponents with empowered troops.

The issue at least I have, is that this is being sold as helping newer players while it actually damages them specifically, and thus also guilds that cater to them.

Ok thanks.
But it’s 6 days now, none of us are using anything against anything as there gone, dead .
So all further posts from anyone, about how to counter or beat journey teams are useless .
As there gone.
Thanks anyway.

You’re right. It’s time to move on. Thanks for this and for putting it this plainly. I just left my guild (with an explanation), although I haven’t been able to bring myself to uninstall the game yet - probably out of some irrational delusion that this nerf might be reversed. I know it won’t be. It sucks because I was making progress and I had set goals for myself for further advancement. I liked the pathfinders.
I was enjoying the game. Maybe I’ll still keep it installed to do treasure hunts when I’m bored, at least until I run out of maps. We’ll see. It was fun while it lasted.

It’s pretty sad that you’ve left tbh.
If your whole enjoyment of the game was based around 7 troops, that have only been around 18 months.
Then yes, maybe you have done the right thing.
However if you’ve played longer than 18 months, or you played modes that didn’t cry out for the journey troop use.
Then your jumping way to eagerly.
I just want to add, maybe I haven’t got the points this week, that I have in other journeys, but using amarok has been way more fun than using a loop troop.
Iv had to think, and plan moves.
Now it’s fun for me, because I’m not reward only thing that matters player.
I’m a player that likes using a lot of troops.
Also underspire double sylvanimora, with a bloodwood,so long since iv used these troops.

Good luck and sorry to see you go. If not for the fact that my family plays I’d probably quit also.

there has been more serious things in past. i am giving them at least 2 journeys to give a proper solution.

next to push out new scoring and rebalances
following to fix the above further
