They sure took some time to act.
here is a global solution to fix all looping and to stop skill less teams. put a limit on extra turns, spell or gem.
Eagle Eye feels like a borderline OP trait already, considering how it applies the status effect BEFORE skull damage is even calculated (in the same way that Knockout allows a Troop to bypass skull reduction traits like Stoneskin/Ice Armor), but Iāll concede it is far from the only trait to effectively double Skull damage against specific targets (specific in this case meaning āanything not immune to Hunterās Markā), and the Troops that get it are typically rather squishy.
Still, Eagle Eye + Toxic Hatred + Bloodlust = 3-6x Skull damage is an amazing (and feared) combination just out of the box.
Hahah is THAT a hot take ā not that I disagree or anything (fighting games often implement some hidden mechanic to limit long combos), I just donāt see any simple way of implementing it.
ājust silence/Mana Drain the looperā - two words: Seekra Darkwood.
ājust freeze the teamā - two words: Insulated Pathfinder (hypothetically, a Glacial Peaks Blue Pathfinder running on an otherwise non-blue team, what even is frozen anyway?), or Queen Beetrix (because I hear you like free Cleanse, so we put more Cleanse on your team so you can Cleanse while you cast)
Yeah, Underworld faction troops are super easy to get because of their extremely small (aka. āundilutedā) drop tables. Pathfinders also have the typical delay between when they are featured vs. when they actually get added to chests, after which Event Chests for the relevant kingdom are your best bet.
If they have such data, which I actually doubt given that pathfinders are the most useful troop for new players specifically, and after the recent influx of journey events, easy to obtain for them, unlike just about any other useful troop, it still means nothing since people are claiming pvp is flooded with pathfinder teams. So if so many battles in pvp are pathfinders (which I also doubt, but w/e), thereās no way of knowing if it was the pathfinders per se that made them quit, or if pvp was just the last thing they did and they hate it for other reasons, like thinking they cannot reach the top spots, and also thinking they ought to be trying to achieve that.Edited to add: With people intentionally dropping tiers as people have stated here, they may be competing with top spots getting super high scores - I do not know.
And again, if that was the issue, just give newer players AI defences to deal with rather than robbing them of their most useful troop (including for pvp) and calling it helping them. Making changes this radical based on alleged behaviour in PvP is also premature, since none of the areas are actually using the last teams people used to attack, as Iām certain no one is attacking with 4 firebombs, which I still find regularly in central spire (in diamond league).
The whole shiny stuff that was introduced is obviously new player unfriendly because - even if itās meant for endgamers - itās a disincentive for mid to endgamers to hang about in guilds helping new players. Hence, they will be stuck in guilds that can only reach low tiers, and will be able to help less without journey troops, meaning even lower tiers.
Nerfing them is mostly irrelevant to anyone who has access to better troops; it hurts new players specifically. Plus PvP isnāt really meant for new players anyway, as they have other things to do, which will be harder for them now.
Casual PvP was a decent place for newer players to do something PvP related.
Alas, as we know, the devs decided to remove it.
With PVP matchmaking being roughly based around your statistical Team Score, this was one of few modes with āautomaticā difficulty scaling all the way down. (In GW, for comparison, Iāve often seen teams with <2k of Team Score and I do feel some pity for the matchup)
Would they not have 18 months of data, from the journey troops though, so itās a lot of data.
And if the most times people havenāt come back, is after a PvP journey team fight.
Then they know what there doing surely.
I understand your going by your evidence, but in 18 months, you might of spoke to 100 people in game, theyāll have 18 months worth of data.
Itās just one way of looking at what Kafka is saying, as they donāt need to lie, they could say nothing, or weāve done it get in with it.
Do you see what I mean.
If that was the case, why change it now specifically, when we are supposed to be getting defence teams people actually used to attack? (They also would have had said data before releasing the last 3 pathfinders in that case, but decided to release them anyway). Granted, it will be the lower levels resorting to journey teams to do pvp attacks, but that problem could easily have been solved by just giving players AI defences until they have reached a level where itās reasonable to assume they have better options. Since we actually have AI defences everywhere except central, this ought to be relatively easy to do, even if it meant making another hub entirely for lower level players (not tiers, as people would abuse it and just drop down on purpose). They could also have just banned journey troops from pvp.
That actually could also be the reason as you say.
Soon PvP will be settled, and as we know our attack team is our defence team.
Now if thereās gonna be some sort of equal defence points or something.
And if the points work out better if we have a 50/50 team.
Instead of all attack.
Then the way to go as we all know, to have a good attack and defence team at the same time, is a journey looper.
So thereās a big chance, everyone that knows anything will be using a journey team on attack on PvP.
Can you imagine how awful, the game would be if we all did it.
Iām just throwing out possibilities of whatās happening.
If you can understand what Iām trying to say.
I mean, as a relatively new-ish player, I donāt see how this helps me.
Iām new in the sense that Iāve had the game installed for a couple of years, but never really did much with it because of the perception that I was already far behind the rest of the player base, with little chance of being competitive.
Then, last year, I pulled some pathfinders! I levelled and traited them, and found I WAS competitive in higher level delves and explore runs. Suddenly, I was making progress! And because I was making progress, I was having fun! And because I was having fun, I started spending money on the game!
But nowā¦this is worse than a nerf - itās a nuke. The pathfinders are now so useless that they may as well be removed from the game altogether. Iāll go back to opening the game for a few minutes every other week or so, and my money will stay in my pocket.
Some win buttons (Pathfinders) got nerfed, but they were all replaced with a new win button (Stella) but itās likely that a lot of the player-base would need to spend gems on dragonite to get it sooner rather than later.
Coincidence? Perhaps.
Devs, you broke not only Journey. With your restrictions, troops with Pathfinder was main for Raid and Tower of Doom too.
Tood Greenwood was main troop last week in Raid. We kill Ctharasque and what next? We should make 2000 damage for other troops. We canāt use Mang or Tricksterās Shot to kill all for 6-7 casts. And we must use Tood Greenwood to make 40 cast with 50 damage to kill all. Very fun, thanks. The game has become a clicker. But without loop it will take 3 times longer. I donāt like to burn my time like this. Every update you force us to play more battles or battles become longer. I just want to relax in the game, and not click 90 battles 40 times. I donāt like 5-minute battles where the opponent has much more life and armor and I have to hit him 100 times.
Now Pathfinder often passes the move to the opponent and it makes no sense to use it. We have a team of three troops again, where the 4th is useless.
We must play Tower of Doom without weapon and canāt use troops like Todd now.
And must play Journey without fast charging from Captain, but still must take him in battle.
Thanks for Mang this time. But remove penalty for points and 10 turns.
Devs, I want events (Raid, Invasion, Tower of Doom, Journey) like on release. Not that you did last 2 years. I donāt like that you force us to play 4 new stages and it requires points like full week. And there are practically no rewards.
The Tower of Dooms is no longer fun. This is a boring and long event where the battles have become longer. The same problem in Raid and Journey now.
All your updates work against players. And itās not surprising that everyone is unhappy. Veterans are leaving the game and itās getting harder and harder to find a player for guild. And new players will never catch us in terms of weapons and troops, or it will be in 2-3 years.
PS
When I write the developers, I donāt mean the support workers (you are all great) who help us and have to read all the negativity. But those who really create and design all this, destroy the game with their innovations and never read this forum.
And there are two simple solutions that donāt break anything.
- Restriction of the pathfinder in PvP. In attack and defense.
- Or remove restrictions and penalty from other events
I donāt understand why you canāt just make the game that is comfortable and convenient for players. Why do you need to make it play like itās inconvenient and there are a lot more battles than people want? For many players, 40-50 battles in an event is more than enough for a week to play and relax. I donāt wanna tired in game or ask and force teammates to spend own weekend to close last few stages. All events are designed initially with increased requirements and where all 30 players must play all battles with maximum points. Or you wonāt be able to close it. There are players who donāt have enough battles and events. Those who want to play more can play 100 battles in Underspire or 1000 battles in pvp.
Wow, a looping Pathfinder was somehow more useful to a specific event than a Troop designed explicitly FOR that event? Gee, who could have ever seen that one coming?
You really have got to stop with the speculative bs. You might think it makes you look smart, but it really just makes you look like a bad player to come up with arguments for things that donāt exist to prove a pointā¦and still fail at it. Itās also repetitively spammed so much that it may as well be trolling/instigating arguments at this point.
because thatās their whole hustle, itās the only recipe they know for building events
- Go do this one thing, over and over again!
- Settle in and keep doing it ad nauseam until you grind away any vestige that might have been the least bit novel, interesting, or fun.
- Now go do it some more! Youāre on a time limit, chum!
I donāt agree that other guild events have been broken along with journeys.
But epic trials for Vulpacea and Hellcrag certainly have.
Why would someone with access to better and faster troops use Pathfinders in PvP to attack? They are boring and take ages, people will use better teams if they can. Itās mostly people who need them due to being low level and/or not having good mythics who use them, i.e. mostly low levels, and as I said before, if thatās such an issue, just give people AI defences to deal with up to a certain level, etc. There are plenty of solutions that donāt involve taking the most useful troops from newer players and gaslighting them by claiming itās āhelpingā them.
They have been made worse for lower level players and guilds that accept them. If you are low level and have few mythics, advancing in guild events was easier or possibly only possible by using pathfinders. Now a wall where people can no longer beat the enemy teams will be hit much faster, and guilds that accept lower levels already struggled to reach higher tiers, which will now be worse and there will be even less higher levels willing to stick around helping out noobs. Less people helping new players = new players more likely to quit.
Thatās true, nobody would - in central spire, or in colour-based restrictions. Butā¦ we have restrictions in PvP based by tribe - and I know for a fact that at least 50% of my guild (all high level players!) used Egris+Finesse in stryx; and just as many were using Todd+wargares in Wargare restriction area.
Now, imagine that attack teams are actually saved on defense, not as they are now, 4 random troops meeting the criteria. Would meeting a Todd team, or an Egris team, in that region, for 50% (or more) of the battles offered, be fun? Hell noā¦
