We’re getting close to 100 different shiny troops in the game. (96 I think?)
We have less than 5 troops that weren’t a weekly troop or starting 30? troops. Most of them are event troops.
We get up to 6 shiny keys a week in a very active guild or can occasionally buy 3 a day with gold marks (probably a small amount of people…)
We have no way to target any troop outside of its release week.
@Kafka What is the point of Shiny keys?

seven free keys every week is better than six 
At this point they haven’t got a clue what they’re doing with the currencies. Just move on quickly to the next one to try and squeeze as much cash out of us as possible

It was a cash grab just like all the other previous currencies/resources that they’ve basically forgotten about and pushed to the side.
It was only a matter of time till shiny keys got pushed to the side and eventually so will burning marks. Just like all the others before it, chaos shards, cursed runes, war coins and soon to be dragonite.
Its the never ending a cycle of the introduction of a new resource/currency that can be only be used on a specific new thing and you only receive a very limited quantity of it. Then push “offers” for more of this limited resource/currency for real money so that you can get more and eventually when the revenue coming in from it drops, release a new resource/currency to use on yet another new thing and release it in very limited quantity.

Definitely agree it was more cash related but I don’t think all the currencies you listed fall in the same bucket. You will never get enough shiny keys to keep up with troops but chaos shards you end up with more than you can use.

I would argue that shiny keys and burning marks are the most problematic of the bunch. Chaos shards, which are handed out fairly generously, eventually become obsolete, cursed runes will always be useful thanks to soulforge, and war coins are basically optional and mostly only useful in the beginning.
