I’d argue the actual gacha portion of Gems of War has never been its strong suit.
Why buy gems to open gem keys if you can open 2,000+ gem keys and still not pull a mythic? (We used to have gem sales that most never bought)
Why invest into VIP to unlock VIP chests just to spend over 5k gems and still not pull a mythic? At this point, probably half of the Mythics in this game are low quality wastes of time (so slightly above useless). Spending $100-$200 for a Libara or Fallen Valdis is just cruel. and that’d be considered the top prize of that gacha of the week 
I’m going to stop there before I end up making a tangent point on how dumb it is that Gems of War constantly releases new currencies.
