Guild Wars Reforged Feedback

Your guild has placed 24 Defenders in the keep. It makes more sense if it would have stated 24/27

:face_blowing_a_kiss: Merci, Pim, very much!

This was challenging for us as well. I’m hoping it will get better as we get used to GW being part of the line up.

Also maybe take a look at the matchups again and tighten it up. We’re ranked #199 (2,515 rating )and facing off against guild #13 (2,646 rating). That doesn’t seem like it should be happening. Spoiler alert, we’re getting smoked.

This event feels like what I would expect if I bought Guild Wars from Temu.

Too many design choices that seem unwise to go into detail. But it’ll take a majority longer to read the patch notes about guild wars than it’ll take to complete all 20 matches. And no I’m not complaining about lack of time. I’m complaining that more effort was put into explaining it than designing it.

I’m (not surprisingly) disappointed that you guys did not take into account the old Guild Wars achievements. Despite mentioning this numerous times, it was completely ignored.

“Olympus has fallen”
Defeat a paragon opponent in Guild Wars. This should pop when you defeat the palace now.

“Sentinel Prime”
Upgrade each of your Guild Wars Sentinels at least once in a Guild War. I don’t see how this could be obtainable in the current format.

“The other side of dawn”
Complete all of your guild wars battles in a single week. TBD if this actually works, we shall see.

For a game that uses its achievement system like no other game I’ve ever encountered in order to force people to keep playing for long periods of time (Horde Mimic, 5 immortals at rank 10, etc), one would assume you guys would be on top of fixing these old achievements. Despite numerous requests to have this at launch, it wasn’t done. These haven’t been obtainable for over a year. Maybe you won’t fix them and it will finally be the push I need to quit for good. Let’s see.

Hi guys. I’ve been on and off the game lately so I missed some of the rules. I won all my battles but have a law score due to not setting my defense team. Where exactly can I do that ?

Takshaka is absolutely AWFUL to fight with a defense team of three. As it stand, I don’t know if we’ll ever get a set bonus because no one can make it through the one place where Takshaka shows up. There’s a lot to like, but mechanics conflict against each other.

I really don’t understand why we can’t have basic information about the game inside the game. Why do I have to read blog posts to have any idea what scoring is supposed to be?

I think everyone should be restricted to broken spire. Broken spire isnt that great compared to other regions.

That is the problem in my eyes. The chat only holds so many words then they just disappear into the ether. If your guild is effectively communicating then important teams and strategy might scroll off when someone is at work and they just miss it

They know, they just haven’t done it yet.

They fixed past achievements that were no longer valid, some sooner than others. So they’ll do it eventually. … hopefully.

Defense teams are locked one hour prior to the start of GW so no opportunity to fix that at this point.

Your defense team does not affect your attack score. It only adds to the morale bonus for your guild, and potentially helps you win the day by beating your opponent. But no impact on your score.

If your score was low, look at how many turns it took you to win and if you had 4 troops remaining at the end of the battle. Other factors include how many match 4+ you made, and how many extra turns you generated. See the March 11 news post for more details on scoring. It’s the same model as PVP VP points.

This isn’t actually that unusual in high-level, “open” chess tournaments that use an ELO system for ratings and “Swiss”-style pairing systems. Or even “accelerated Swiss”-style pairing systems.

The way it works in a Swiss system using ELO rakings to sort players? The first round sees the rating list sliced in half; then the top-rated player on the “upper half” gets paired against the top-rated player on the “lower half”, the second-rated player on each list gets paired together, et cetera. Which means you get a fair amount of lopsided matchups in the first round while those inequities shake out with a lot of lower rated players “getting smoked”.

Now I have no idea what the algorithm locked inside the “black box” of Guild Wars is going to do on subsuquent days. If your guild goes three more days with such lopsided matchups and gets slaughtered on every day, there’s something wrong with it.

But we’re going to have to wait and see what transpires.

Defence have no influence on your points, only attack. Defence is setting in a prepairong period before a war starts. Event starts in monday - then you have 2 days ( tuesday and wednesday) to set a def, then it’s locked for all current GW. Wins in battles rewards you base points (Gate - 100, palace 500) and a bonus. If you have a low score you probably don’t make some optionals in battles (you can get up to 35 bonus points per battle)

@jeto, Hi there
I have a question:
If a guild set a 2 of 3 defenders at a some building are the 3rd place a taken by the bot team, or opponents will have a random choice of 2 defenders while attacking?
This link says the second option is correct, but while playing a day i’m kinda confusing

Only 2 people will be there defending, the 3rd slot is not filled. Then when someone attacks it is random who they are matched against.

Soooo… if, hypothetically… we didn’t use Warlord class with our Broken Spire team today we missed out on points?

No. There are no class restrictions. @dustangel just thinks there should be

There’s also no points rewarded for however you structure your team, the class you use, the troops used etc

All points are purely from doing the battle and the location you fight in.
