It’s different - it’s a competition between guilds - and everyone should play with same rules - so if it is an option to use a team which lead you to victory with max efficency - you should use it. In pvp or in exp where your game is only yours - you can imagine and use everything you want. For me - i’m often use a zuul team with a x3 to burning monolith in purple or bane of ambition or a crag-maw in green instead of stella just for fun. But when everyone uses meta to defeat an opponent and you are not because of some your sloth ro smth - it’s not good
I honestly just thought of a simple fix that might be the start of “balancing guild wars.” (If that’s even possible) What if defenders had to use a different troop in each of the 4 team slots?
For example, it would prevent divines and nagas filling their teams up with Takshakas, knowing that it’s very difficult to stop.
Feedback: lower the amount of players needed to fill all defense spots in the keep.
Trying to get 27 members in your guild to see guild chat and/or discord within 2 days to see they need to set up defense is difficult. We posted multiple times trying to get every one to do it and ended up falling a couple short. Would like to have the number needed to max defense slots lowered. Not everyone in game is looking at chat every day.
This would be a nice everyday thing, not only GW as many don’t want discord. But GW really made the guild chat a bad option when guildies started to reach out for a low level player to leave the palace, when he/she surely just hadn’t a clue what to do with gw. So yes, a dm option would be much more subtle.
A way to tell who has done their Guild Wars for the day
A way to tell whose defense is actually working. (so for example even if they get stopped on the 4th battle, you don’t know which of the 3 defenders succeeded)
How people in a guild are actually doing
A 27/30 vacation consideration for offense.. (considering they have 27/30 for defense slots)
How battles your guild/the other guild has remaining
Any practical way to test defenses (future feature I get it)
No real way to coordinate the 1k path set bonuses. Really hurts when you need 30/30 to get max points.
Do the Keep Guardian Bonuses really matter by turn 15? The only time it doesnt feel like a game ends by like Turn 5 is Journey and Pure Faction Delves… (or bad RNG mana potions PvP)
No Hidden Scoring yet the scoring isn’t mentioned in-game.
Guess it’s too late to say this is probably not how you’d want to release a Reforged Guild Wars…
Feedback pre-play:
Letting duplicate troops on defense is a very sketchy choice.
Each defense slot in each color keep should be randomized differently each Guild Wars to prevent mostly solved defensive metas…
So here’s some extra brownie points that would be cool but would likely never make it in the game because it’d take effort.
Give us a tab in the Guild Wars area where we can just post suggested teams and maybe some notes, separate from Guild Chat which can fade out of existence quickly. A central hub of recommended teams for Guild Wars purposes. Offense mostly, but defense discussion could be useful. (I’m not scrolling back up a Gems of War in-game chat 30 seconds to find an old team).
However, if you want is just easy victories (for personal reward track, for example) and doesn’t mind low guild score, you can already fight gate battle 5 times. That battle poses no threat to anyone.
In the other word, if “no-restriction” team is ever allowed, its score should never be any higher than 500 points per day ( = gate x5).
But you don’t need 27 members to have a functional defense. 9 people, one per each site, is enough. The 10th to 27th are just giving moral bonus to guild victory reward. I think it’s fair that it has to be earn by real effort of coordination.
Speaking from a GL’s POV: (1) It would be nice to be able to see who has not done their daily battles - for our guild, it is a requirement. (2) A list of final daily scores for each player - I keep track of this to understand who may need extra help during GW. (3) Ability to see how our defenses fared against the opponent - we should be able to see wins/losses in order to rethink a defense team for future GW. Lastly, I am happy that GW is back - it’s brought some well-needed excitement and buzz back to our guild. Thanks for the rework - looking forward to additional future improvements.
I like using the same attack restriction for every day of the wars, so we only
need to make the one team.
I like the individual performance rewards and that they are rolling so if you lose a battle you get the next reward after winning the first battle next day.
The restrictions set up for defence/attack make for much speedier games.
I did all 5 in about 10 minutes today.
I like that everyones results & teams are private and only the total Guild score is published. I am sure some won’t like this but I think a defeat isn’t so impactful - ie naming & shaming !
I like the option of taking an easier match or staying with the same fight just to
score some points and/or achieve the individual rewards. Appealing to players who may not have access to a strong team.
I like that the smallest number of guildies can participate. This GW we only had 17/30 take up the mantle (I think more will do the next one) but this first day was fun AND, as Guild Leader, I have made Guild Wars OPTIONAL (unlike the original) so no stressing about who is turning up for duty.
Feedback: on 3 out of 5 battles an opaque yellow square covered the center of the board and made it impossible to see what color those gems were. Seems less than ideal.
I’m loving the new guild wars. It’s optional in my guild but we managed to cover a defence of each area.
The actual battles made me shake like the old guild wars! Would like to see paragon etc come back. Also need a decent way to test defence teams. Edit: And see how many scalps they took out of how many battles.
It was interesting trying out my broken spire attack team in central spire and seeing everyone else’s attack teams as they became their defence.
It was fun sharing battle tales with my guildies. I love guild wars and it’s great to have it back thanks!
Biggest thing that’s missing, is being able to see how many defensive wins and losses you had. But also being able to see whom in the guild has played how many battles. And how many they won.
Now GW feels very solo
Of course no one is forced to play any specific game mode but you’re ignoring the fact that GW awards unique rewards whereas Arena didn’t. In a game like GoW, if you’re miss out on rewards like shiny Legendary tokens, it’s going to be incredibly difficult to makeup for it in the long run. To some players, it’s important to them to keep up with these type of rewards.
Personally, I use weekend to finish the weekly tasks: guild event, Underspire, potentially PvP battles for weekly goals, etc.. I rarely engage with weekend events anymore because of a lack of time, not even Vault events. I do a single GaP and call it quits. I’m fortunate that I don’t need any resources from the vault anymore, so I can afford to not play any.
That being said, the devs already have acknowledged that this is a problem and it’s on their list.
Either nerf Elementalist or restrict defense heroes to the troop type. Right now it’s just a slog of Essence of Evil and Elementalist in each defense. Combine that with having zero empowered converters for Broken Spire and you’ve got a very, bleh experience. It feels very much less strategic and all luck.
The only option we have is Sheggra’s Heart or medals.
It’s a competition modus, so I want to see how my guildies scored, who fight (and who not … ), which defense had a win etc. etc.
After a week of preparation for GW it was quiet annoying, that almost all rooms from our opponents had not a hero and the opponents were around 20 Life, what made this soooooo long awaited GW a huge disappointment. Hope for an Opponent Guild with similar Level the next days.
Oh, and I have tried to figure out what this 24/30 means. We are more than 24 players, less than 24 played so far. What is it???
