Guild Wars Reforged Feedback

So, two GWs down, a few of my hopes:

  • GW Admin Permissions for TOP TWO guild ranks only. Prevent too many cooks in the kitchen, and fools accidentally messing with our keep selection or opt-in.

  • Performance info. I saw this is on the docket. +1

  • Change the Guild Chat reminder to look less like a random player. Every month people ask me who this player is and we have to tell them it’s not a player. I get it, it’s not your fault these people are… well, not the quickest. But it could be better.

  • I’m also floating the idea that maybe Palace shouldn’t always just be color restricted. If attackers are kingdom restricted, maybe the palace should be too. If attackers are ever color restricted in the future, then sure, fair play. If attackers are troop type restricted, maybe the palace should be too [not that all troop types are nearly equal…] But it just doesn’t make sense to me that the palace should be able to absolutely mug a broken spire team with any kinda Diamantina or Double Khafru or Triple Tak and we have like… really little chance of survival there. It doesn’t feel like fighting the Paragon used to feel… if they were too strong, we could play off the color of the day and make it work. There’s no recourse for that here, there’s only… quit and go back where you fought from. Sometimes that’s not even much better.

For the record, I like the new concept overall. It has been fun for us overall. I look forward to some improvements.

Thanks,
Gobby

Guild Wars Recommendations:

  1. Readjust the battle matchmaking mechanism to avoid matching the same guild for 4 days, or a very weak guild matching a strong guild. If you don’t have a good solution in the short term, then I recommend grouping 6 guilds with similar ranking scores, pairing them up and not encountering the same guild for 4 days:
    day1:(1,2),(3,4),(5,6)
    day2:(1,3),(2,5),(4,6)
    day3:(1,4),(2,6),(3,5)
    day4:(1,5),(2,4),(3,6)
  2. At present, defensive green is very powerful compared to other colors, so most guilds choose green when defending, which is not the original intention of the designers. It is recommended that the defense color of each Guild War be uniformly assigned by the system, as if the attacking team was restricted, rather than being chosen by the Guild Administrator.
  3. It is recommended to give the attacker a certain offensive reward, such as a winning streak reward, and give some skill improvement from the second battle of victory.
  4. Adjust the personal reward mechanism, it is recommended to change the number of times you need to win to the number of battles, so that you can get all the personal rewards regardless of whether you win the battle or not, so that guild members can be more active in fighting, instead of only fighting the simplest battles for personal rewards, such as hitting the gate 5 times.
  5. We need clearer statistics on battle information, such as whether a certain guild member has fought, how many times they fought, and where they fought.

Could always change it to enforce keep colored + restriction defenders at all buildings in the keep.
Or ban a color for each map - no red troops allowed to defend on the green map, no yellow in purple etc

I think I said it after the first GWs, they should really randomize the defense restrictions in each colored area (but the same restrictions for all guilds) after each GWs so there is some decision making to be had..

Your comments are all spot on except the part about it working perfectly before. There were a lot of better features for guilds to manage the event but there were still tons of other issues. It was a broken mess on old technology that needed replacing - just… not like this.

This is my favorite QOTD so far. Nicely done.

Personally I contacted 505 games to complain about the non serious of this development and not to take the community into consideration.
I think it’s pointless if it’s just one person doing it, but I hope they’ll pay some attention to it.

I was a bit addicted to the old GW, always had to jump in just before Monday reset to take screenshots of all the stats possible and later move them to excel and share them with guildies on chat even though they didn’t care about them as much as I did.
So the good news is that as I totally missed the last GW it felt like… nothing…
So that must be how I feel about it in it’s current state.
It has nothing for me.

My guild is trying to prepare for the upcoming GW and has questions about the Dwarf restriction. It would obviously require the troops to be dwarf, but what about a weapon? I can think of only 3 possibilities:

  1. no weapon - all 4 dwarves;
  2. weapon becomes dwarf by class;
  3. weapon unrestricted.
    Anybody know?

Pretty sure it’ll be 3, since that’s how PvP works.

I just don’t see how dwarves are going to be anything but an exercise in frustration. How are they supposed to kill anything more dangerous than a tutorial team, hide in a cave and wait for them to die? I guess it would be fun to watch attackers flailing around inefficiently from defender perspective, unfortunately that functionality doesn’t exist and probably isn’t even planned.

Strategies:

  1. Wait for some P2W McGuffin to drop to make this remotely viable, grit your teeth and pay up.
  2. Play Ruby Macaque + 3 spear carriers, to cheer the hero along.
  3. Play 3 Dwarven Slayer + some summoning weapon, to hopefully get some useful non-dwarf troops into your team once spots free up.
  4. Play 5 gate battles and call it a day.

It’s kind of difficult to imagine a restriction even more suited to make players wish they would be playing some other game instead. This sure feels like someone is still miffed in regards to the shiny key incident and decided to dish out collective punishment this way.

Don’t be too harsh on Dwarves! They do have 50% start and really good skull converters. It will be interesting.

I mentioned this in another thread, but Apothecary will keep you safe and can loop pretty reliably with Elementalist and dust storm. And being able to use any weapon gives a lot of flexibility. Dwarves are strong enough so that you should be able to get Apothecary up, find some 4+ matches, disable the enemy team, and then just obliterate the opposition.

I feel that if you lose with the teams I am thinking of, you just have a really bad start or just get unlucky. That’s honestly how a lot of this game feels now, and you just have to learn to move on and not get upset over it.

Good point. Apothecary was used a lot in the old GW too.

I just took a dwarf team into pvp, fought the toughest teams i could find, didn’t lose a single troop. Feeling a lot better about the next guild wars now :joy:

Is it really that hard to incorporate a n inner guild leaderboard?? It should have been in the last patch. This is an absolutely shoddy version of it’s predecessor.

Can we get a hold on guild wars until we can kick deadbeat players who joined guild after 8.5 update please, since devs haven’t been able to fix that issue yet?

In 8.7, so far it looks like we will be updating the Guild Wars permissions for Guild members.

From Rank 1-3 to only Rank 1 & 2.

Lol at DWARF restrictions facing meta teams.

Yo devs. The ai should be restricted to what we use.
