the fighting is better - the different constraints on different battles help avoid 5 fights of the same annoying meta, so much more enjoyable to play, I don’t mind this event
missing the in-guild competition aspect - I enjoyed the challenge of trying to perform near the top in the guild, I miss seeing the individual results for the guild
would be nice to see how many people in guild have played - can kind of guess from number of fights done on the first gate, but would be nice to see X battles left for the day
bugs - the daily war said we were fighting guild X, and then after midnight the notice said “congrats, you won against guild Y”, was that just me?
I’d like there to be more, I don’t know, fanfare at the end of the event? As it is, after the final victory/defeat popup, Guild Wars pretty much disappears – we can’t even see the leaderboard to see how our ranking changed. It felt like a rather anticlimactic end to 4 days of battles.
So, in addition to the existing “stats during the event” request, I’d like “stats available after the event”. Let us see, after the GW event has ended, and until the next GW event starts, how we – both individually, and guild – did in the previous event:
for individuals: attack and defense battles won/lost
for the guild: daily score and win/loss, including enemy guild name + rank + rating; total event win/loss; old and new guild rank + rating
Players worked hard for the guild during the event and then it went poof into thin air when it ended; give 'em a chance to bask in their accomplishments for a while.
I think a pop-up at first login after the daily restart after a GW ends would be cool.
“Your guild fought x, y, z guilds. Here’s your scores vs. theirs for each day. Here’s your guild’s total score. Here’s how you many places you moved up/down on the leaderboard. Check your mail to receive your rewards!”
I like it except it doesnt show defence results, doesnt show guildmate results and their scores. People who do not know how to play properly will attack the same areas. Would be nice to see what defences guild has set up as gm so they can correct things
Low level players can play at the Gate and don’t lose out on getting rewards because they are only at level 300 or such.
Individual rewards are really nice
Players don’t have to progress to increasingly harder battles if they don’t want to (or are unable to)
Morale bonus: a very nice touch to promote coordination
Set conquest bonus: another nice co-op reward
Overall very chill and fun! We all had a great time!
Things that would be nice for future updates:
Promote riskier battles by giving the individual rewards for participating in the battle vs winning the battle. This way a player might decide to venture forth to a more challenging battle and would get their individual reward even if they lose. Then it is really up to them to decide if they want to get less points for a ‘safe battle’ vs potentially lose the next battle worth more points.
Restrict Opt In/Out and GW Admin to Rank 1 and Rank 2 only.
There are too many cooks in the kitchen with giving admin access to Rank 3 upwards.
Make the Paid Pass more enticing. I’d like to see:
way more Burning Marks or perhaps Epic Burning Marks if that is an option, Deed books, etc. (compared to the Paid PvP pass, it’s not really worth it as it is)
remove Icons and remove the Major Orb of Chaos and possibly even the Shiny Keys (not much use for them so far)
Previously mentioned things: ability to see each other defense teams and their performance, ability to DM guildmate (please check chat, please change defense location, etc.)
Individual scores per location.
Now that we have set bonuses, it’s not as important to me how much the total score is because that player could have decided to increase the set by picking up a location that was lost by another guildmate instead of going for the palace. I would be much more interested in the scores on each location so I can ask them to share their attack team with the rest of the guild.
Improved matching with other guilds. Ideally within 5 ranks.
Fighting a one person guild seems really mean. I mean all they want is to play on their own and they don’t need to get pulverized by a 30 member guild.
I’d also like to see the GW Rank updated on the Guild profile page. For example, it shows Sons of Anarchy being rank 34 in GW and Marshal being Rank 190 in their Guild profile. When we know they were rank 1 and 2 at the time of seeding.
Overall, I feel there was a lot more thought that went into this update and I really appreciated the detailed previews, patch notes and guide on how Guild Wars works. I could tell the tremendous amount of effort that went into creating the notes and pictures. This was really helpful for explaining it to the guild and understanding it myself. Thank you very much.
p.s. Also a special thank you to all the beta testers involved. I know you get blamed here in the forums for things and that’s really sad. However, I know you are doing all those volunteer hours for the community and to help the game improve by catching as many bugs as possible and providing as much feedback as possible. So thank you for all your efforts!
I feel like beta sometimes gets the sharp end of the WAS THIS EVEN TESTED stick here because only its failures are visible: the bugs that made it through to release, because they couldn’t be fixed in time or because they needed the bigger scale of the live game to reveal and reliably reproduce. Its successes are silent: we don’t get to see the bugs that were found and fixed before the release.
Id rather Gm rank be the one to control opt in or opt out. Whoever else plays or decides not to can be dealt with. Too many low levels cry for promotions then mess around with the shield, goal, tasks, ranks as it is. They should be gm only.
That kind of feels like one of the many band-aids this game is built on, once in it will never be touched again by development due to “working fine”. A better approach would be to allow the GM to set permissions in regards to what each rank can do.
I like the format and the idea of getting sets better than the old GW’S but it’s definitely not creative when it comes to making attack teams very limited and defenses that are just 3 takaska’s and ruby macaque
A combination of the old and new GW’S would be better in opinion
Make the restrictions for attack colored and you pick the color your guilds palace sure most will pick brown since its the hardest though it might be better to have it set where they need to get sets to prevent them from getting bonus points for sets
The old scoring system was better in my opinion, defense shouldn’t be able to set multiple’s and able to see defense results and bring paragon back
Let them use there wand and Stellarix on defense much easier to beat than a book
so long without gw we went without, and you give us this crap, only thing i like was the map to palace but really the old gw was better and how do we get rewards from last day of gw we won but only a few get the rewards. really this gw is a joke and why if you going to come out with a floral dragons why not put dragonite as a reward, i am very unhappy with these gw that took 16-17 mths to come out. you cant even make me believe that you the devs have been working on these gw as long as you have been saying you have b/c if you did all the t and i’s would of been crossed and dotted. tbh i dont even think you work on it for 1 mth. i dont even believe you have even tested or played the game ever, to you its only a money drop.
Can you base your ELO system on weekly trophies change rather than global trophies? This would help differentiate between active and dead guilds. Also you need 1 different guild to face each day. No duplicates. I can’t wait to see the rework. Good luck and thanks.
The only suggestion I have is to not lock kingdoms for offense for the whole war. That was boring as hell, because a lot of kingdoms lack the diversity needed to create truly unique teams. Like, geeze I can’t wait for Grosh Nok - every team is just going to be Arges + skull creators. Fun times…
Ehh, started a few times, deleted a few times, whatever.
Overall - quite underwhelming, quick toss-together stuff.
Attacking is just 1:1 recycled copy-paste from Underspire (and pretty much the same as raid boss), not a single thing changed. Some people mention being excited about using new teams…probably living under a rock for about previous two years.
Fight pathing - basically, just recycled delves.
Some middle rooms are indeed easier than in the old system, but others - just start the battle and might as well retreat right away because it’s a hopeless guaranteed loss. That never happened in the old iteration (as there were enough troop selection available to make a counter).
And now we get forced daily play…yay, cool.
And now we get truly forced teams…yay, cool. Free selection and bonus points for sticking to suggested restrictions was fine. Of course, it got thrown out of the window the moment it was decided for +1000 bonus for full location set. Too unrealistic to give enough stick-to-restrictions bonus to offset points for full sets with free team. So now everybody’s doing the same team…Elementalist with irrelevant support. Marvelously creative.
And just wait until initial dust settles and people home in most annoying keeps to choose - it will be the same enemies (and the same attackers) for every single day of every single event, no change, no variation. Simply perfect.
Troops type defenses vs. kingdom restrictions will never be balanced. Divines, Nagas, Elementals, and Dragons have some of the most powerful troops in the game, and it’s “The New Meta.”
We had many different ways to counter books (doomed codex), but we have very limited options to deal with these troops types. And some teams can get such a headstart, that we are helpless or have to get very lucky to not get completely obliterated.
I agree with all of the feedback about the guild ranks which have access to opting in or out, and the feedback about the attack team restrictions being underwhelming. It looks like the next one is set up for Divinion Fields, so that won’t really be any better.
I’m also feeling like this is so fundamentally different than how Guild Wars used to work that maybe it should have been called something different, like Guild Siege or something like that. It’s a shame for those of us that liked the old GW system for the most part that it’s completely gone now.
I was actually thinking about this a bit more…
If offense was a COLOR and defense was troop type with kingdom at the palace, I think it would overall make it more enjoyable for everyone.
Way too easy for attackers, especially since the color restriction doesn’t block out any of the vastly overpowered troops, no matter which color is picked. I believe the kingdom restriction for attackers is a very sound approach, it requires players to actually experiment with the troops available, and we won’t get any reruns for a long time to come.
What I would like to see is a rotation for keep maps, without any choice by defenders. With the current approach we’ll just end up with just about every guild always picking the same map.
Hi Jetto. These are the same suggestions that were given after the last wars. I am listing them again as not 1 were implemented. Like so many we were very excited to have Guild Wars return. Here is our list of ideas for Guild Wars adjustments.
Limit defense troops to 1 of each card. (No 3 Stellas, 3 Taks, etc on a team) Or pose a point reduction for doing so similar to the previous guild wars.
Provide in match data to show where we are at on bonuses points, and also allow us to view them post match. Currently the bonuses appear and then they are gone just as fast post battle.
Post clear notes on what troops change. Wand and Stella we know but will the new floral dragon change? Are there other planned transformations? It would be helpful to know.
Allow players to set defenses any day of the week. But once it’s selected it’s locked in.
You don’t need 30 to play just 30 to set defenses at some point of the week.
Allow the GM to move and adjust who goes where on defense. Yes this might mean they had to readjust their defense based on restrictions. Why would you want a player who is the lowest level in your guild to choose the palace? Yet they do each time.
Gates battles should scale to Players level. Players just fight the gate multiple times for the reward tracks because they are easy wins, but in turn hurt the entire guild scoring. Its like you have two competing forces here. I get that new players will like the gate battle, but those players should be facing easier guilds too.
Add medal tokens in rewards to Guild Wars and also in PvP (since they are the same mode and tied together). No one has the time to explore like they used to because of PvP and our medal counts prove that.
27 players are needed for defense, but 30 are needed for offense. That makes no sense. Either drop top 3 scores of offense like guild wars was before. This makes it 27 for both offense or defense, or let us put 3 players on the gate so it’s 30 for offense and defense.
Let us see our players scores on offense so we need to know who to help, or who is fighting the gate 2-5 times. And of course who is not playing if that happens to be the case.
Let us see how our defenses are performing via their records, and the scores the opponents are putting up against them.
Classes should be locked to the kingdom or the type restriction. Otherwise its Elementalist for every offense and defense.
Automatically put the cursor on the next level of fights after a victory, and also add a warning if you are going to the battle area you already beat. Sometimes sets make it worth doing this but other times it happens by mistake.
Thanks, TD
New suggestions for this month
A player set his defense then dropped to a lower guild, yet his defense stuck to our keep in the higher guild . That is kind of funny but kind of scary at the same time. So now we are at 27/30 defenses set with 4 people not having to set a defense.
#1 Unforgiven vs. Eritais Falcons
Unbelievable. Eritnais Falcons is not in the top 50. Probably not in the top 500 or 5000. Unforgiven faced 5 gate battles taking the left path because not 1 person had a defense set. So the #1 ranked guild gets that draw? That doesn’t sound like a good ranking system. Transparency please.
If your going to delay the next guild Wars to take into consideration our suggestions then please implement a suggestion or two
#1 Unforgiven vs. Eritais Falcons (2 Days in a row)
Then Unforgiven faced the same guild on Friday to get another easiest day
