From Tuesday night (PDT) (or unfortunately, weekly reset as some reported), unscheduled push notifications for Gems of War will temporarily stop being sent.
This means that even if you have Guild Alerts enabled in your in game settings, you won’t receive push notifications for:
Pet Rescues started by Guild mates
Guild chat
General Guild activity
Alerts to notify you the hourly tribute is available to collect are also affected.
This issue is occuring due to transitioning to a new 3rd party service provider for the Gems of War push notifications. We’re currently working with the new provider to resolve the issue.
There is a help center article here that you can follow if you’d like to be notified when there are any updates about this issue:
We’re very sorry for the inconvenience in the mean time as we know these notifications are needed for notifying of 1 hour Pet Rescues and Guild communication.
I suspect the ETA for this is “when 8.2 releases”.
My theory here is: the new notification provider needs client changes that are in 8.2. The backend change of notification provider and the release of 8.2 to clients were both scheduled to happen on Tuesday for a seamless switchover. But then 8.2 got postponed at the last minute, after the back-end change had already happened; and we’re stuck in that mismatch until 8.2 releases on Monday.
My theory is they saw a report that PC/Mers were gaining massively more tributes than all consoles so they went third-party to shift the blame save money
Right after I posted I got one too. But after tapping it, it didn’t go away as it normally should. So I had to manually swipe it away. I am wondering if it doesn’t go away after tapping, would it affect all future notifications?
Hek of a start here. It’s been weekly reset, and I’ve installed the latest patch. Notifications still aren’t working. Are notifications the new guild wars?
