Guild "agreement" in bracket1 to arrange scores

Hey, if you’re gonna be lynched anyway, wouldn’t you prefer it be done patiently?

(That’s the last image from me for the night, sorry to keep derailing)

From a brief inspection of the matchup ordering, it looked like you could start it on any day and still avoid collisions. So keep the same matchups. But instead of always starting on day 1 of 6, start on a randomly selected day and go from 6–>1 when you need to.

In other words, the community has advanced a very simple solution to the problem of collusion. It remains to be seen whether this is the solution implemented. Just because I can’t think of a way to game that system, doesn’t mean it’s impossible to do so.

You’d still have to lock in defenses somehow, or people would just swap them on the “target day.”

EDIT: Or I could read @Ashasekayi’s post, where she already mentioned this…

@Saltypatra said punishment on passed actions won’t happen. And reparation to the impacted guilds apparently won’t happen either. So while the Devs work on a system to make it harder to collude or make it easier to detect, the best we can hope for in the immediate is that this public outcry and attention to the issue will mean the collusion will stop. That there will be no evidence of collusion this week. That would already be a positive outcome of @madking continuing this conversation in this thread.

I correct my statement. It is happening on console top bracket. Dirty low down &*^$$÷# :rage::rage::rage:

Truth.

Most systems can be gamed. But, some solutions are better than others. I just hope the solution that they pick is a solid one that actually addresses the issue and isn’t an afterthought.

I really hoped this was not the case. So Xbox bracket 1 ain’t legit either. Wow.

If we know who the responsible parties are, the other 8 guilds could run peasant defenses against each other and their worst defenses against the guilty parties. That would presumably drop those teams down to bracket 2 the following week.

Obviously, that would be until the devs make a clear statement against it and do actual code changes. Until then, there’s nothing else that can be done.

Easy to detect and easy to prevent.

@MrsAffects you know some guilds are cheating on Xbox?

No. I don’t. It was hearsay. I would not know who. It’s not unreasonable to think tho. I will not point fingers tho because I don’t have any facts and that would be irresponsible to throw that kind of shade.

I think the best thing to do is put GW on hold for a year or 10.

hard to believe you arent jokin.

in case you arent - no thanks. whatever guild rewards im getting its bettter then not getting them at all. i dont want to be punished by loosing them just coz some other ppl are cheating
thats riddiculous
im already scammed from potential gw rewards caused by this issue, scamming me from the rest of them is just lame

but you are free to not participate.

I’m in Bracket One and a proud member of DruidsGlade. This is the first time I have ever commented on any Forum topic, but I am now because I don’t believe the Devs are getting the point here. First, it hurts our Guild VERY much when we work so hard every day to gain points, and we do it without cheating, and then a guild that we and others have beaten, who has thousands of points less than us, flies past us in one day. I have seen Guilds jump 4-6 ranks in one day, jumping past those that have beaten them all week.

Then you say “We believe that collusion is not within the spirit of Guild Wars. If we get solid proof of collusion in future (on our side as well, not just data collected by players) there will be consequences, which at the very least will be the removal of rewards. The guilds in question will also possibly be demoted to a lower bracket.”

How in the world does that help us if you get to keep their rewards? How about giving us those rewards? How about removing their guild and rightly moving us up? And those in Bracket One that don’t cheat? And those in Bracket Two that should be promoted? I don’t benefit from you keeping their rewards. That’s simply absurd.

and it is so disappointing to see that for devs it is not a “significant” change. they may see the numbers but not understanding them? how come…:thinking::confused:

for all i could understand they decided to forbid it due to moral dilemma/community screams but never admited it did change the scores in a “significant” way in the end

since it is now officially forbidden
i hope they do take under a loop (even if it means manual checking each fight personally) the 1st bracket in each platform, each week from now on (and the two winners from bracket 2 too)(until gw fighting system is changed)

It has been having a very, very significant impact on the scores. How could it not? Again, absurd.

And good to see you again @Annaerith. I hope you are doing well

I do hate GW but I am joking. The only time it should be put on hold is when it’s bugged not because of cheaters.

I may be way off the ball here but I can’t help thinking, with the way the game has been going, that if this happened in lower brackets action would have been taken against lesser known guilds/players.

Don’t think it is all that difficult to implement. The combined GW scores of guilds colluding should be significantly higher than the combined scores of guilds that are playing competitively. From there a manual examination can then be done on the defense teams which have been put up. The focus should be on the paragon and champion levels. If these reveal suspicious behavior, then a more detailed inspection can be made at the lower levels to see if this is a guild wide effort or just the actions of a few individuals.

for what its worth their best bet is working on gw changes as a priority, i suppose

the system needs to be adjusted to automatically prevent or automatically punish cheating,
manually doing it is a no go for a longer shot :persevere:
