Once upon a time before PvP dominated all of our time spent, there was a playable activity called Explore to experience Gems of War. For a period of time, it was the centerpiece of Gems of War. Explore was even majorly reworked which added many new features like Mimic Battles and Merchant/Angel. However, outside of clearing some buggy/game freezing interactions (thank you), a lot of the core set up never went through Quality of Life sweepings.
So today, I would like to bring up a few things once brought up and has been lost in time.
Quality of Life:
- I want the game to remember what difficulty I am playing on.
Every time I clear a dead end, the game reverts back to the beginning where it asks Explore I would like to play on. While it seems like no big deal to just press Explore 1/12/in-between again, when you’re doing thousands of runs of Explore, it adds up.
I would like to see a separate location on the screen for difficulty, and instead of the current difficulty location, just make it a Start the run button or maybe just start immediately on Battle 1 without needing an extra button.
- I would like to opt in or out of Genies and Daemons somewhere, or I’d like a QoL change where these buffs/nerfs were time based instead, or I’d like a feature adjustment where Genies and Daemons gave extra gold/xp/souls/or token opportunities for using their features.
None of the buffs or debuffs mean anything when the explore run is over before those effects ever matter. And frankly, players usually design their team in a specific way where most of the nerfs/buffs don’t matter either. Currently, they just don’t do anything, so it wastes the player time to avoid these features.
3a. When I get to a Mini Boss Battle, I don’t need the game to tell me “Congratulations, you have unlocked the Explore Mini Boss Battle” for the 1,647,833rd time.
3b. When I get to a Mythic Boss Battle, I don’t need the game to tell me “Congratulations, you have unlocked the Explore Mythic Boss Battle” for the 1,318,266th time.
Surprisingly, I’d leave it for Mimic battles so I don’t sleep walk through them, but the other 2? After the first few times multiple years ago, I get it. Stop it.

I’ll give a signal boost: Buff Medal of Aranaea. It shouldn’t be doing the same attack value as Medal of Seasons. All medals should have a unique function to its existance.

I never really understood why Mimic battle stats are based on your highest completed Explore when you find them, but gives you rewards based on your current Explore. Kinda needlessly punishes the low level Explore players.
Feature request:

Maybe it doesn’t matter for a lot of people, I’m totally okay with giving a pity system for Hoard Mimic drop (the troop). This system has been long enough in the wild.

Pity timer for Mimic battles and Hoard mimic battles. Every explore run (set of battles) you complete gives you 1% more chance to see a Mimic in the next run until you see one, which then resets to 0 after it happens. Every Mimic battle completed gives you 5% more chance to see a Hoard Mimic in the next run until you see one, which then resets 0 after it happens.
Some people have bad luck. I think it’s okay to make someone’s day a little brighter.

I’d like to see new medals. Medals are a feature with a lot of potential for growth and absolutely nothing has been done with them since their release.

A few more ranks of difficulty/rewards. Maybe instead of more life/armor etc., start giving them perks/extra traits similar to Delves.
