Enough is Enough - Dragonite/Eggs

Of the original six gem dragons, I still need the green one after all this time. So, I finally broke down and started spending precious gems to get more dragonite throughout the week, and wouldn’t you know it - I still get duplicate after duplicate of dragons I already have. Got my, probably 8th, purple dragon yesterday.

Never mind that Dungeon is just a random casino game now and not based off skill.

So - the fix: Either give a minimum guaranteed drop of dragonite in dungeon each day, regardless of “traps” OR drop the trap mechanic all together and make dungeon rewards based on skill - i.e. - can you complete a room without losing a troop? or can you fulfill some challenge?

Better yet, since all the other epic troops like Zhul and Cthassque can be crafted - why aren’t you allowing us to craft the dragons we need??? What is this random egg garbage?

Casino based drops do not help player retention they drive us way. FIX YOUR GAME - don’t add more “luck based features.” Make all features based off of skill and grinding.

Can’t agree more. Locking a valuable resource behind such hardcore rng, it takes some people well over a year to get and others one try is ridiculously unfair, not to mention it’s gambling when people can spend real money to do it.

Yeah, I saw early on that the eggs were a con. I refused to ever spend anything on dragonite, and I’ve managed to get lucky enough to get all the original gem dragons from dragonite earned from perfect runs. I also got enough to get the two rings, but I’m still trying to get the combined ring and then my diamond dragon. No interest in chasing the new dragons any time soon either.
If there was any safety system to limit the duplication via the eggs, I’d be willing to spend gems on dragonite to get the troops I don’t have, but when there’s no guarantees, I’m not remotely interested.
Guess I’ll get all the dragons eventually, but by then there’ll probably be a bunch of new ones.

Have you been recording your craft data? I am still tracking this whenever somebody volunteers more information…

Minor correction, “epic” is a proper in-game term (for card rarity) so watch how you use it…

Statistically, the expected value to acquire the full set of Dragons is 15 eggs (i.e: 7500 Dragonite for Gem Dragons; 8250 for Cosmis Dragons) so if you are relying solely on Perfect Runs to acquire Dragonite (calculated as a 10% chance of 82-120 Dragonite, average up to 12 per day) you can reasonably expect the process to require … 625 days (almost two years) for six Gem Dragons, or 687 days for Cosmic Dragons.

The two complaints are, and have always been:

  • Lack of player agency in acquiring Dragonite. Well, beyond buying it outright (note that 60 pieces is statistically equal to at least 5 days expected value for Perfect Runs, so it’s not a “bad” deal).
  • Lack of player agency in acquiring specific Dragons.

It’s been mentioned (quite a few times) that if the system implemented a hardcap on the number of Dragons per color you could obtain (similar to Guild Guardians from Guild Chests) then this would alleviate many complaints as you’d be guaranteed a full set no later than 21 eggs. (I’m trying to map the exact probabilities to estimate an expected value, but it is proving … difficult) However, the only other system with such a hardcap is Guild Chests which isn’t easily comparable since those chests still drop OTHER troops/resources not subject to any caps…

They wont change it until enough people waste enough resources on trying for Stella. Going to be awhile still but i dont disagree i just know how they are

My minds blank.
But do we get curse gnomes/runes from vks yet.
If not. Then there’s no way we’ll get the resource that came after curse runes yet.
Just using common sense.

They are not in the vault key battles.

But then they might add a third set of dragons or bosses to start the cycle all over again…but I hear ya, they are not interested in making dedicated players happy.

I can easily imagine they will be adding a 3rd set of dragons by the end of this year.

Always new gem sinks. Just the way it is now.

If they cared about this at all they wouldn’t have released cosmic eggs without a limit of 4 per dragon.

They’re listening, they just don’t care about what you think in the end.

This is a major issue for me, as a long time player (8 years at least). The whole gem dragon mechanic being so luck based is a horrible way to treat your players. I still dont have all 6 gem dragons (I have 5 of 6) but i have 8 copies of some of them now. And if takes so long to save up (or buy 60 dragonite per day) that when you finally do, and get another useless dupe, it really sours me on the game as a whole. Since this was introduced, I have stopped spending cash on this game, because I feel like the next soul-crushing dupe will be my sign to walk away from this game for good. Why treat your players like this? Cap them at 4, so at least you have an end to this game.

I know, you can play the game without Diamantina and Stellarix, but they are so good right now, that you are at a disadvantage if you dont have them. Zuul and Charra-whatever at least allow you to grind for them, even if it takes a while. I really thought after all this time, a path would be created to fix this, but I guess seeing players walk away from the game in frustration is the way they have chosen.

Yo vengo etiquetando a los moderadores hace rato y ellos no contestan nada … parciera que no tienen nada par decir … yo tambien ya estoy cansado de esto @Kafka

You can get a decent amount of Dragonite for gold stars in the pvp shop now, maybe 90/week? Way more than dungeon offers.

Also, max time to get 6 unique drops if all are equally likely might be 10-15 or so on average, but the std deviation is *enormous. The theoretical probability of still missing one after 25-30 pulls is startling. It’s a Gumbel distribution.

You can, sure, but IDK how many people can comfortably afford to do that instead of books.

Yep, it’s statistically between 2.5% (at 30 eggs) and 6% (at 25 eggs).

Same here…

I used to spend money on kingdom and campaign passes, mainly for the troops in hopes of having them all one day. Then came the Hoard Mimic, later the Dragon eggs.
My goal became unreachable, so I stopped caring and spending.

I was incredibly lucky and got all of the original gem dragons before getting more than 4 of any of the others.

That said, I do agree that the dungeon ought to have a base reward of dragonite— maybe based on your dungeon level after completion. I honestly don’t bother doing dungeon fights unless I am guaranteed the dragonite.

I wonder if this is intended by the Gems of War team.

I can see them now, bragging in their gaming seminars and conferences that they created a system where players are strongly recommended to, but not forced to participate in, but created in a way where people still don’t participate from their own will to save on giving away free gaming resources. Success!

Exactly! I mean, that’s low, but like, that’s hundreds of unlucky players :frowning:

Yeah, I’m far from needing books, I have so few kingdoms at lv 15. I need deeeeeeeeds :sob::sob::sob:
