Do you like the Arena Revamp?

Tbf I don’t know many people grinding out trophies regularly, and other modes offer trophies plus much faster battles plus much better rewards

I’m not finding it difficult, I think many people are overthinking their team comps. I’ve done about 25 runs so far, I retired 2, Those 2 were me trying to get creative instead of sticking to my original plan of 4 different mana colors and picking troops who do damage vs support. There are some runs that are just too long, mostly because of summoners, but overall these runs are fairly quick.

I won’t read the whole tread, too long!
I like the 4 different rarity troop idea, just make all 4 sets of 3 troops visible at once.
If I could see the for different set of troops of 3 random troops I could build a decent team but gambling a team is not much fun.

In essence - pretty disappointing. All the shortcomings that could be masked in pre-5.2 Arena are now highlighted; sure, the thing is eventually winnable plenty of the time, but as for fun…
If one of the goals was “creative team building”, seeing all offered troops at once is a no-brainer.

How’s this for a theory?
Arena Event surely has a huge gem value as do extra three daily offers (it’s 10% discount after all!) so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that, in order to not break the economy, ordinary rewards simply had to be nerfed adjusted accordingly and, as a sort of compensation, valueless trophy amount were increased.

I would need video evidence of that before I believe it.

600 an hour??? Sorry I ain’t buying that. Select event, choose the draft troops x 4 then 6 fights in 5 mins total. That might happen VERY occasionally but multiplying your best timed run to reflect an ‘hourly trophy count’ is nowhere near the same as playing for an hour and seeing what you actually get. I don’t know what point you are trying to make with such hyper inflated totals? It’s just not realistic projection at all.

We’ll see on the 30 of October how much pain it will invoke as it will be a total nightmarish Arena event on weekends.

I would encourage people especially in my guild to just ignore this event to show the developers that they came up up with even more rubbish the Arena was before - no weapons, no flags to wind up Mana mastery at least a bit. Complete BS to my opinion. Game becomes simple waste of time due to this.

I doubt they will need to be encouraged for ignoring it. Also it wont be a nightmarish arena event if we are not attending it. It will only be an nightmarish arena for those who force themselves to play it - without liking it. There is a few that enjoys the new Arena I have seen, wish I was one of them.

Really???
It’s not because they “claim” it they really do it … :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Of course it did. Much of what has been posted across the many Arena threads on the forums was at least presented to the devs as ideas for improvement. On that note, many of us actually try to amplify good ideas that we see posted on the forums in the beta group. Not sure if that makes any difference or not (these forums are routinely scanned by the devs) though with what is effectively double posting of ideas.

Personal thoughts at this point, but there are probably several issues at play here:

We don’t know what the devs’ intentions are with the Arena.

The largest issue is that we don’t know what devs’ design intentions are for the Arena, in general. Some posts suggests that some of the increased frustration (team selection order, dynamic difficulty, etc.) are to intentionally increase odds of failed or partial runs. That’s definitely plausible. If the “goal” is to create a mode that allows farming of Chaos Orbs, then attempts at slowing down or frustrating players towards that goal is definitely within the realm of reason.

Updates that reach public beta testing are already 95+% locked in stone.

It’s possible that the devs think that some of the ideas being presented are good, but designing a new interface at the beta stage of an update is not possible, even with recycled interfaces. Once an update reaches beta, it’s highly unlikely that any more design work is going to happen that isn’t a very quick fix (and no creating a new interface from recycled interfaces is not a trivial task). Here’s hoping that some feedback makes into a 5.2.5 hotfix or into 5.3. Still, going to be frustrating before then.

The devs don’t owe explanations to the beta testers or the playerbase.

Optics aside, we aren’t the devs’ bosses (505 is) or their parents. They don’t have to obtain permission from the forums to make whatever changes they want to their own game. Yes, there are their consequences for any actions they make. But, they are not obligated to clear anything with the playerbase or explain themselves about the design decisions they make.

Apparently, according to Taran’s, there are daily and weekly versions of the Arena of Valor. That’s new information to me. On the flip side, the devs had no obligation of disclosing that morsel of knowledge to the beta testers. All we can do is learn and adjust to new information as it comes out, as long as we voluntarily continue to play this game.

There’s a daily version of the Arena event that will be showing up as soon as this Wednesday. The event appears to be able to move between Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and can even appear multiple times per week at “faux” random.

Explains why the updated was forced so quickly after release. Thanks.

How do they feel about opening up Alpha testing?

My main complaint would be having the Epic Troop picked last. Let me pick it first, and I withdraw my complaint.

Average run time is 5 minutes. With 30 seconds for draft that’s ~11 runs per hour, which would give 550 trophies.

Again, I’m gonna need some video evidence before i believe it. No aborted runs due to crappy choices? No losses ever? 5 minutes for EVERY run?

I’m streaming right now. Twitch

2:38 into your video you lost a game. Do you drastically improve by the end?

When you finish, post a video on YT with 2 hours of arena with no cuts/edits to prove that 600 trophies per hour.

Inception - time slows down depending on levels.

Streaming - time speeds up depending on viewers.

Vip 4+ has one guaranteed victory.

I’m in favor of some new perks for Vip players within certain limits. If this benefit for Arena was something like two free Arena entries each day this would be more fair in a sense that a player will just skip the costs a bit, but still need to invest time, count with some luck and strategy to benefit from the Vip perks.

Vip levels also giving you some advantage in Arena events regarding the leaderboards is also troublesome regarding gameplay fairness.

Not sure I can actually get 600 trophies per hour, I’m not THAT good consistently  I think it’s VERY possible to get 500 trophies per hour and likely that 550 per hour is doable. 600 just means another run.

Trophies Per Hour Average Run Time Battle (Sec)
400 7.5 84
450 6.7 74
500 6.0 66
550 5.5 59
600 5.0 54

The battle time is after subtracting 30 seconds for drafting.

Did you watch all of it? I’ve streamed 2 hours of Arena today. Some enemy troops are definitely more of a problem than others and can wreck a run. Then again, that’s what YOU are hoping for.
