I agree with this, design and vote for what we feel is cool, not for what’s missing or for what we as an individual need to get the next star on a kingdom. Those are the wrong design motovations.
Reflecting on all the above I will be opening a new poll with five kingdoms I pick from those asked for so far. Thanks to those who joined in so far, and apologies for the reversion, but it seems fairest given the new insight from @sirrian - that’s a spoiler above if anyone missed it. As @Sirrian and I are at opposite sides of the world, timely communication isn’t always possible! I will leave the next poll open for much longer - that’ll hit in a few hours. Cheers
@Jainus, Can I suggest we start fresh with the understanding that we shouldn’t focus on “forgotten kingdoms”? I would assume different Kingdoms would be nominated with a different premise.
For example, I would love to see more Whitehelm/Sword’s Edge troops of the Knight/Divine variety simply bc I love their mechanics. But I also didn’t volunteer this bc we were so focused on plugging holes.
I think we can trust Jainus on coming up with a new thread introducing many of the interesting points that were brought through this first attempt
Then my suggestion would be for pan’s vale. That questline had the most interesting twist and I would be very interested in designing something else sound- or silent-based
In light of the recent news about Ghulvania that @Sirrian shared with us,I still nominate Stormheim for the same reasons and for one additional reason: Considering the length of time it will take to complete this project, as a Winter kingdom, we have a very decent chance of seeing this through successfully.
Please do reconsider. Another kingdom worth looking in to is Darkstone. Its relatively new and stands a good chance of succeeding much like Stormheim.
I think a poll with all cities is the fairest and simplest idea.
I also think more Blighted Lands troops doing cool things with Diseased would be fun.
I’m a little late to this party but my vote has to go to Ghulvania. It has one Legendary and one Epic.
I say we need to make this Troop’s Type a Beast, keeping with theme of “filling in gaps”.
I also believe it’s Mana colors should be Green/Purple, the least represented combination.
Again, Ghulvania, and any Kingdom, may get new Epics, Legendaries, etc., and may have balancing adjustments, between now and the 2+ months when this troop actually comes out. We shouldn’t be basing our decisions on what’s currently available or “filling in gaps”; it should be based on what you personally like to play and would like to see more of.
It’s great that you think that way, and I appreciate it. Dove people think differently however, and might want some kind of troop that does fill a hole in the current meta, there is nothing wrong with that, and to say “they might have your exact troop ibn the pipeline already!” Can also apply to something that we think is “cool”.
I appreciate you’re thought but, I just feel like outs saying the same thing over and over that applies both ways.
Well @Studs I put the community first. If you want selfish ideas I got plenty.
A great Legendary Trait for a Knight type (needs Stoneskin to “work”):
Vanguard: Receive Skull damage in place of Allies
@TaliaParks welcome back!
Yayyyyyy @TaliaParks has risen long time no read texts
I will be opening the new poll shortly… I have closed the one above… I will be reviewing these threads for the most often suggested kingdoms - but will be ignoring those where people just want to ‘fill gaps’, as the devs have plans for these…
This is our opportunity to create something unique and cool, and not just filler… My hat off to @studs who has made this point repeatedly…
And a belated welcome to @TaliaParks and others joining us late…
@sirrian @Nimhain this thread can now be closed and unpinned, thanks
I think a cool mechanic is to have a troop with an amazing but expensive spell and a trait the reads “whenever an opponent matches gems that share a color with this troop, gain 2 mana.” This would make it hard for enemies to mana block the troop
I still like my backlash trait though too
Gain mana whenever an opponent casts a spell?
@killerman3333
Like if the new troop was green/blue the
Gain 2 mana whenever opponents match green or blue gems
Mana link? When your opponent makes a 4-5 match that shares a color with this troop gain that much mana? Would make frozen look good but not sure if a player is willing to give ai match 4s, however after seeing gameplay on youtube it would be nice to have an idiot proof troop.
I like this idea, this poses some very interesting situations!
