Dec. 14, 2019 First Writ AB Task
I’m not sure how to incorporate these writs since you can use them to make any color deed. Maybe I’ll just keep a running tally.
Xbox says 100 writs to craft a deed, 1000 for an imperial. Absolutely not chasing those “rewards”.
Doing the math, if we get this task once every two weeks, we’ll be able to craft two and a half deeds over the course of a year, or one imperial deed in four years. Probably not even worth keeping tally off, maybe for the sake of completeness (and to document the disconnect between players and devs).
Older post, but a thing this particular quote made me think is:
“If we got different tasks daily we’d have a much larger representation of how random the data is, but some people would have ridiculous luck with purple deeds.”
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
Here are the current deed rewards:
Deeds of Color I: 4 deeds
Deeds of Color II: 6 deeds + 1 imperial
Deeds of Color III: 9 deeds + 2 imperial
If we use the devs own conversion of 1 imperial = 10 deeds, here is how writs would scale
Writing Writs I: 10 writs ( .1 deed)
Writing Writs II: 40 writs (.4 deed)
Writing Writs III: 80 writs (.8 deed)
These writ tasks are such garbage I’d rather not even have them. They just serve to dilute the pool.
Epic tasks remain an embarrassment. 100 writs ain’t worth anything like the task expense required.

Nope…

Haven’t posted it on the forums yet, but I’ve come to realize deeds from Epic Tasks and all Writs are still mostly worthless to me as you’re still gated by Imperial Deeds for 50% faction treasure hoard and +1 stat. Imperial Deeds aren’t really feasible to craft with Writs so you’re still gated by the Adventure Board being “generous” enough to give you Legendary/Mythic Deed tasks.
You could essentially get enough deeds from epic tasks in time to get 25% stats for each new faction event. All I can say to that is… 25%? eh? I guess.
623 days to complete Imperial deed rate. I’m going to bookmark and mute this thread. I’ll check back in once I’ve completed all kingdoms to 15, and see how much longer it took me. Thanks for tracking this. Cheers.

The worst part is due to their greed regarding gem currency, they are missing out on the potential boon from the path to glory. If the legendary or mythic were guaranteed new, people would buy them in advance for both the exclusive period with a new mythic, or even when a new legendary hits but there were 4 other legendaries diluting the pool.
They are ignoring a prize winning cash cow to beat their horse that has been dead for do long, it’s just a skeleton.
Let’s use today’s flash offer as an illustrative point.
Today’s offer is 750 Gems + 1000 Writs for $25 USD.
The closest gem package in the shop is 650 Gems at $50 USD, which is also 750 Gems at the Motherlode’s ($100 USD) gem purchase rate at base prices. So, at $25 USD, one could view the gems at being offered at a upwards of a 50% discount.
Also, the trend over time has been to offer a sweetener to each flash offer in the form of some in-game item of a “comparable value”. In this case, the 1000 Writs (convertable to 10 colored deeds or 1 imperial deed) are also being valued at $25 USD. Note, that this is a good benchmark as reference that an imperial deed has a base monetary value of $25 USD. The logic also holds for the Orb of Power and Medal of Nysha being valued at $50 USD, as well as other items being offered on flash offers…
This was something that I brought up during the last beta, as I needed Salty to explain to me the incentive being offered to players on each flash offer to make the connection. Perhaps this might be a good point to ping @Saltypatra on this for something that might be put on their whiteboard for review for a future update to better communicate the value proposition to players on various flash offers.
I really appreciate that these premium resources (deeds and medals) are being bundled with large numbers of gems for a high price. If you could buy them individually for $2-$5 each, the game would feel much more pay to win. This pricing means that I feel no pressure to buy them.
I think that might sound sarcastic, but I genuinely appreciate the design. If they have to monetize it, this is a good way to do that.
I agree that most players won’t notice the gems and will think “$25 for one deed? lolno.” The gem deal isn’t highlighted well. It should read something like “BONUS: 1000 ‘free’ writs!”
I can say with very safe certainty that this will never happen, at least not at the prices currently being offered for Path of Glory I/II. The reason for this is analogous to the trend in packaged PC/Console games over time shifting from the Full Game + Expansion Pack model to the modern Base Game + DLC/Microtransaction model.
Via Path for Glory II, a random mythic is valued at $50 USD. If that was allowed to be a guaranteed specific monthly mythic, issues occur from a business perspective happens.
It cuts off potential revenues from the devs. A guaranteed new-release mythic offers flat, binary revenues to the devs. Either players purchase the offer or they don’t. This guaranteed offer doesn’t necessarily stop players from purchasing gems to chase that mythic, as normal, but it does create a spending ceiling. After all, why purchase more gems than what is needed for guarantee? Nevertheless, it is reasonable to say that a portion of the player base would definitely purchase this.
However, I would relatively safely assert (although such information is among the most confidential and privileged information that the devs possess and will never, ever, be made public in any way) that among the portion of the playerbase that purchases gems to chase a specific mythic, that a significant number of them purchase more than $50 USD in Gems when chasing that mythic. If the mythic is guaranteed, than any revenues earned over the $50 USD guaranteed would be lost because the guaranteed would be the better purchasing option.
Broadly speaking about gacha games in general, when a guaranteed top-tier card/unit/whatever is offered as a direct sale, it is priced at a level that is above that of which players who spend to chase that unit would normally spend. If I had to take a wild barely-educated guess at the pricing of a guaranteed specific mythic (especially it was meta-defining), and that only a single copy is ever needed by a player, I would probably place the floor at least $100 USD.
Revisiting a thread didn’t get to post on last week regarding writ to deed costs, this pricing premium for a crafting a specific player-selected deed of choice is visible there. The devs have placed a significant price premium on the player being able to craft deeds of the color of their choice. Hence the steep writ → deed conversion rate and the poor drop rate of writs on the Writing Writs I adventure board task.
That said, the very steep pricing for a presented $100+ USD specific mythic would be very poor optics for the game, and would likely never occur.
If we’re talking about money here in a pure vacuum, and ignoring all other related issues, I’d argue the opposite. The devs are chasing the cash cow that they would be ignoring if they offered guaranteed pricing to players and have the data (that we’ll never see) that backs up their design decisions.
