I’ll continue to track how players behave, and future adjustments will almost certainly be made.
Be aware though - economic changes of this kind are pretty much 100% driven by player behavior data, not discussion on the forums. Which doesn’t me that we shouldn’t talk about it - but please don’t argue or shout!
its going to wind up disappointing people when they unexpectedly get to this place where they can only do so many a day. and make at least some people see it as then end of their play time daily… no more task? ok i’ll go play sumthin else.
I think that’s a possibility, but from the way @Mr.Strange has described it, it’s not like you’ll be done these 4 tasks in half an hour. If it takes you 6-12 hours to complete the 4 tasks, you probably SHOULD go do something else…
Personally, I’m reserving judgment until it’s been implemented or at least a fairly comprehensive preview is posted. Right now, with the constantly changing tasks, it sometimes integrates well with my game play, and sometimes frustrates it. I’m hoping the new system will make for more integration and less frustration, but we’ll have to wait and see.
This is probably the case. HOWEVER, at this point lets see how the new Task system works when it is implemented and try it out. It very apparent from the Developers comments that cycling tasks is “too efficient…”
Not everyone will see these changes as a “Nerf”. Its kind of amusing to me because a while back I posted about the using the 4 Treasure maps task to generate around 150 glory in 10 minutes. One of the other forum posters commented I was doing it all wrong… (I should be playing slower/more careful or some such thing.)
I’m with you on that, but mainly worried about “win 20 battles with 3 troops from maugrim woods” or divinion fields. I hate when I have to win one match in those scenarios.
Do you have dragon armor already? I liked the aesthetics of celestial armor myself but bought dragon because its 1000x more useful for us console peeps.
they could have made them less efficient without making them 1 a day… if these new tasks really will take hours to complete why not let me do a few a day? not like I could burn through them…
instead of having tasks like win a battle with 4 troops from Adana they coulda made it win 5 battles…
but instead of toning it down they just wanna ruin it… I guess they think people will buy more gems if the tasks suck…
HA. er… so… I play on my account, and my husband’s. My account has Celestial because i level the “wrong”* troops, and require more souls. I don’t have the “want” of gold, yet, although i should probably get it to raise my kingdoms. So, on my husband’s account, he’s got 396 gems, mostly because of basic “playing every day”. His character is in my daughter’s guild, which has a grand total of 3 people in it, and i am the major contributor… so… i guess my playing style (on both accounts) is probably too casual for the meta crowd i meet here.
*wrong means not the normal troops i’ve seen advanced here. I’m not at my xbox right now, so how much for both sets of armors is a question i don’t know the answer to.
Yeah that was it. Well in a few more weeks or so (once the update is released) you will have your wish fulfilled. As no one on console will be able to burn maps for Glory anymore.
I’m going to have to double time it, as I still have hundreds and hundreds of maps to burn through before the door closes and Task train comes to a halt☺
You misunderstand. The point is not to get people to spend more on gems. The point is to reduce the number of people who realize that they are making thousands of times less gold/glory/gems than other people, and quit the game because of it.
A few hundred people, most of them on these forums, absolutely blow regular players out of the water in terms of income. And that realization is a major reason for people to abandon this game.
The people who make all that income do so because they put 10x more time into the game. But 10x more time should give 10 or 20x more resources, not 1000x. We’re looking to fix up that income disparity, because it’s the biggest retention weakness we have right now in the game.
A blunt way to accomplish this would be to simply cap resource gain. But instead of that, we want to tie resource gain more closely to skill, rather than raw time played.
the game is designed so you earn more once you’ve leveled kingdoms and troops and being in a top guild helps a ton…
obviously someone that plays 1/10 as much as I do will take a long time to get to the point I’m at and they will likely never be in a top guild… but why would they quit just because I get more than they do? when I played WoW there were plenty of casuals… they didn’t quit because I had endgame gear and they were struggling in 5 mans… most of these casual players arn’t on the forums so how do they know what I earn… hell I dunno what I earn…
if anything resource related scares away new players… it’s probably getting 4 souls per battle… which is stupidly low considering how many are needed just to get 1 decent team goin…
also the skill part is laughable the skill required in this game is so low…
only skill determines if you can predict (like me 1% of the time) what gems will fall from off screen. I mean troop line-up also plays abit on the skill thing as well.
