The April event calendar identifies the next Guild Wars starts in May with the attack team restriction being Divinion Fields, however, the Cattauri King is not guaranteed to be available for anyone that didn’t purchase the pass in February. This announcement states that he will be available 2-3 months after the Kingdom Pass ends.
This troop will be key to many attack teams and could be considered a paywall for Guild Wars. Hopefully, we can ensure the troop is available before the next Guild Wars starts.
I’m having some doubts they can easily modify the date at which Cattauri King becomes available, it’s likely fully automated. It wouldn’t even help, because fishing for one specific legendary in a huge pool of several hundred would cost more keys than 99.9% of players have available.
Possible solutions:
Pick a different restriction. There doesn’t seem to be any theme involved, like a tie-in with kingdom event week, so any kingdom would do.
Put Cattauri King into the forge for the whole duration of Guild Wars, including the preparation phase.
Well said, Raistlin. It was also a pretty shady business practice to have a kingdom pass for a kingdom that would have guild wars coming up, making players who didn’t give them money feel left out. It’s inconsiderate. Plain and simple.
It’s hard not to think that all they care about is profits with decisions like that being made…
they can not automate most things: neither soulforge mythics, last bounty captain (first time happened though), campaign tarots, holiday event legendarys…community always has to call out
1.) Cattauri King lets all Centaur troops start out with half mana. That’s a huge advantage, because all the heavy hitters with high mana cost are ready several turns earlier. Those who have access to this troop (currently paying players only) will be able to take out most defense teams before they pose a threat, winning faster and much more reliably, both affecting scores. There is no other troop Cattauri King could be replaced with, the effect is unique.
2.) Just making the troop available in chests won’t help. The regular loot table is huge, Cattauri King would be sharing the legendary slot (which already has a very slim chance to get rolled) with several hundred other legendary troops. To somewhat reliably obtain Cattauri King this way needs an amount of resources that takes end-gamers several years to collect. The only remotely reasonable way to fish for legendary troops is event chests, which would require a Divinion Fields kingdom event week (and several hundred event keys on average).
Hi Jeto, we know you’re very busy, but just a reminder to try and resolve this issue before the next Guild Wars on May 22. It’s true that Cattauri King was part of a paying Pass, but players who don’t have this troop at their disposal will be totally disadvantaged, with its 50% Centaur starting trait. Guild Wars must remain as fair as possible, so I hope that this troop will be made available in one way or another for non-owners, by this date of May 22, thank you in advance for following.
The Cattauri King was technically released on February 17th, so he should be available on May 17th, given the 3 month waiting period. But his availability would be really close to the next Guild War date of May 22.
Maybe we could give Jeto and all the devs at Infinity Plus 2 super sundaes to help make sure that we can try to get this Mario cat impersonator in time for the next Guild Wars.
He would have to be available in a way that isn’t just make pretend. Releasing him to chests won’t help, you would need more than 10k gem keys on average to pull him. That’s technically feasible for a few select hoarders that have been playing for ages. The vast majority of players would still only be able to obtain Catauri King from event chests, as part of the next Divinion Fields kingdom event some time next year.
My vote would go to cancelling that particular instance of Guild Wars. I have zero trust in this getting resolved in a way that doesn’t irrevocably brand Guild Wars as P2W event best avoided by non-whales. I’d rather have one less Guild Wars in case a fair replacement can’t be provided than half the guild refusing to participate in all future Guild Wars events.
Ever since Weavergate we know the devs are fully capable of putting specific troops at specific recipes into the forge (although manually) and this is one option of what should happen here.
I know that the situation doesn’t look good for the availability of The Cattauri King. When I first saw that troop I said to myself, “It’s great that Centaurs finally get a 50% mana start with a decent spell, but when can most people actually get this?”
I have been hoarding up gold for that reason, but as Fourdottwoone mentioned, having nearly 200 eligible legendaries in the pool, makes it very difficult to actually get that specific troop without a tremendous amount of keys or luck.
They probably will not change their policy to help us out, and I don’t see them changing the kingdom restrictions of Divinion Fields, so…business as usual.
I can’t see how changing the kingdom restriction is a big deal. We’re far enough out from the event to give people plenty of notice and CattauriGate is avoided. Win! @Jeto - could you run this up the flagpole? (singingand see if anyone salutes but no one ever does)
Thanks so much. You mean accessible in a way that is more than just a random pull from glory, gem and guild chests? Because that is what it would take.
@Jeto I don’t know the exact number of eligible legendaries that we can get from chests now (over 200?) But unless you have massive amounts of glory, guild seals, or gem keys, trying to get The Cattauri King will be insanely difficult.
We have a Pridelands event week on May 5th, and if people have saved up enough event keys, they will have a more realistic chance of getting it then. I just know that The Cattauri King was technically released on February 17th, so he would need to be released about 2 weeks earlier, on May 5th, for us to be able to get him.
I don’t know if it’s too much trouble for you guys to make that change because I don’t see any other way that we can get The Cattauri King for “free.”
The Cattauari King is a Divinion Fields troop, so even a Pridelands event wouldn’t really help. Its a Red Tower week, so chances there are microscopic too.
There’s no real route for a good majority of players to get a Cattauri King unless they add it manually to the Soul Forge the week of Guild Wars.
I can only try to ensure that it will be available from Chests, I don’t think there is more I can suggest to make this particular troop more available, as we have not done so for any other troop in the past.
But this is all stuff I have shared with the team.
