Cattauri King Availability for Guild Wars

I hear you. Maybe make him craftable in the soulforge? There’s precedent for that, at least.

It is planned to go into chests from tonight and I have at least asked about the Soulforge.

Just to clarify me asking about the Soulforge - we can’t manually add in a troop to appear for everyone. The rotating troops that are in there are randomly selected from a pool.

What I have asked if this is something we could look at adding in future, is the ability to have a slot or the option to add in troops for instances like this, or maybe in future if we want to just have a special troop for a one time craft.

Similar would be Dragonlord Luthor, but he was manually added as a permanent option. He was not scheduled to appear and won’t be removed later.

That all being said, even in the best case scenario, we wouldn’t be able to implement this for Centauri before GW.

Okay that’s super helpful to know. Thanks so much for getting him in chests starting after reset.

Thanks for the effort, but this is actually by far the worst outcome possible. Changing Guild Wars from a skill based event into a pure Pay to Win spectacle is bad enough. But pretending everything is now okay, because there’s now a one in a million chance for F2P players to participate other than as punching bags was really uncalled for.

The Guild Wars location could have been changed to ANY other kingdom than Divinion Fields to make this a fair event. Let’s just be direct here, that “solution” being forced on us IS deemed the best case scenario, this is purely about money.

This ability has already been around for years and has been used several times in the past. It’s a server side configuration that can be done any time, it doesn’t require a client update. No one time craft option as far as the commonity is aware, but nobody would want multiple copies of Cattauri King anyway.

I apologize guys and thought that The Cattauri King was from Pridelands because of his cat-like appearance and raksha typing. He honestly looks a lot more like a cat than a centaur, and I got caught up in the moment before checking my sources.:man_facepalming:

It looks like we’re going to have to save up mountains of gold and pray that we get him from keys, which is unfortunate. And oh yeah, there’s a new mythic this Friday, so people can end up not getting either of these troops. My advice–wait for this Friday to open keys so you can try getting Helilya along with The Cattauri King.

From a player’s perspective, it’s hard not to think that this was a pay-to-win troop for the upcoming guild wars. You can’t convince me that this wasn’t done intentionally. There were 36 other kingdoms to choose from.

This was before your time as the community rep on these forums, @Jeto , but I believe that this has previously been done exactly in the fashion you’re claiming cannot be. It was during the whole “Weaver-gate” kerfuffle, when Archproxy Yvendra released during a Zhul’kari week and the “new mythic release” rules took precedence over “event key availability” and therefore Arachnean Weaver was unavailble from Event chests.

When the dust settled, the “resolution” was that a special recipe for Arachnean Weaver was added to the Soulforge for one week (at a discounted price) as the “apology” from the Powers That Be.

So if that could be done, why can’t a similar(ish) resolution be constructed and offered for this?

So it IS possible to add a recipe as a permanent option. And presumably remove it as a permanent option later.
Can you not just do that??

To be clear, I am 100% on board with the fact that the guild wars kingdom should be changed. Most players won’t even be aware it’s supposed to be Divinion Fields, and those that are aware are unlikely to care if it gets changed, especially at this point as we have plenty of notice. It would avoid so many issues, and seems like (By Far) the simplest solution. I’m just saying that ignoring that, it doesn’t seem impossible to add a recipe (though it might be more work than we’d expect due to the way the game is coded).

There is also the option to gift players a copy via weekly goals (just set a very high goal, I guess) or something else that you can add at shorter notice, so that players can earn a guaranteed copy via hard work and get it before guild wars.

Thanks for the feedback you’ve handed over, so far, anyway.

I’ve been on here for 4 years.

And as mentioned, yes, there have been similar instances like I just mentioned with Dragonlord Luthor, but that differs where we did not have it added for a limit time - which is what would be the case if we added new troops like you have all suggested.

Currently, it’s only feasible for permanent troops, as there are issues when it comes to removing something from the Soulforge (which is exactly what has happened in the past when we did manually remove them).
So, no, adding it for now to remove later is currently not an option, as the removing later is one of the main issues.

Not to say I don’t agree. There are a lot of cool things I think could be possible if we added in limited troops into the Soulforge for a period of time, for community events and also as just an alternative to when troops become available after a an event/Campaign.

I’m just passing on the information that has been given to me.

The math behind getting The Cattauri King:

There are 194 eligible legendaries because we need to subtract tarot cards (34) and pvp shop legendaries (4), so on average we will need:

194×50=9,700 gem keys (for every 50 keys spent, we should get 1 legendary)
Or:
194×4,000=776,000 glory (for every 4,000 glory, we should get 1 legendary)

Hope you guys saved up or you get lucky. Or quit.

Jeto, there have even been like a dozen Tarot cards added temporarily to the forge a couple of years back. Making troops available for a limited time is very much possible, and the community knows this.

I really wonder what to make of this. That information feels very intentionally crafted to make it appear entirely impossible for anything to be done, no matter how much it disregards reality. This wouldn’t happen to come directly from the sales department?

Edit: Here’s one official announcement about troops being available for a limited time in the forge:

But the ability is, or at least was, there. Several months or about a year ago, you had sent a mail, claiming fixed a bug that Kurandara was never in chest. Together with mail, Kurandara was added to soulforge at -90% discount during that week and that week only. I know because I got my Kurandara that way.

====================

Anyway, if it is no longer convenient to add a specific troop to soulforge, we can simply change Guild war kingdom from Divinion field to any other one. That shouldn’t be hard, right?

@Jeto Thanks for cattauri king and Mythic Decaying Queen!

This was possible before and has been done in the past.

If for some reason it’s not possible, either
A) change GWs restrictions
or
B) send everyone a copy in the mail.

Usually, GWs or other modes don’t depend on one troop but this is different as it’s a 50% start troop, and not having him will massively disadvantage players.

I managed to pull it, but it took nearly my entire hoard. Not fun.
