Campaign Glitch and fair compensation

If there australian

Then at 7am uk time.
When the game was broke.

It was between 2pm and 6pm australian time

So thats working hours, awake hours.

They’re already at home when reset happens as far as I recall.

People don’t just work and sleep. They have free time to themselves, too.

That’s not the issue with that. They shouldn’t make people work 16h out of 24. They need shifts, possibly extra staff.

I understand what your saying.

But its game development.
So its all done on a laptop.

Its 2023 so they have laptops at home.

There not house builders or brain surgeons who dont take there wirk home.

Game development is done from anywere.
And to say they all finish at the same time
And all never look at a laptop from 2pm.

Id say your being an apologist.

Theyve no excuses as far as i can see, using common year 2023 sense.

I get this is a mistake, but there were way to many of them.
Whatever the compensation, they really need to fix their things. There is not an update, or a campaign that has run smoothly in a long time.
And now bugs are intertwined.

And also the lies…

“At the end of the day, it seems some people are directing there frustration at other payers getting freebees.”

That is not the case at all…not sure where you got that? I say jump on this. They are not going to ban spenders because of this. I don’t care if someone gets something for free…just like if I bought something and it went on sale next day…I don’t care…I would care if i bought something and even before I got it they decided to give it away for free…

The more I think about it they best way to get out of this without making anyone angry…

Let it go…double the rewards for those that spent 24.99…and for the love of God please fire whoever is responsible…maybe if they worry about losing their job like every one of us does if we kept messing up at our job they will actually try a little harder.

for those asking IP2 is based in Melborne which is UTC+11 so curently just after 5am

we have 4 or so hours before “work” starts there

there needs to be some jepordy now … jobs need to be at risk so these mistakes dont happen again.

bit drastic  but if need be pass the game to a better development team … just fire the lot

I’ve had a sneaking suspicion for years now that IP2 outsources the bulk of the work of their programming to third-party contractors, possibly with major language barrier hurdles to contend with. It would explain so many things such as why answering a simple technical questions could take days to generate a very easy response during beta testing or on the forums, why it seems like there is little consistency in the same bugs showing up after fixes, and a general sense of “is there anyone at the wheel here?”

This isn’t to say that outsourced workers are in any way worse in quality or working with language barriers is insurmountable, but there are certainly challenges there that don’t happen when you are working with in-house staff right next door (or even in the same time zone) where you can ask them a quick question or pop off a slack message to quickly get info.

I could be totally wrong and it just chalks up to someone being in way over their head or skill level, unrealistic release deadlines with zilch time devoted to QC before release, and inexplicably the programmers being somehow magically bulletproof in their ability to make huge mistakes with no consequences affecting their employment status.

so at this point, maybe all current and future updates are removing old in-house programming in favor of outsourced programming?

I have no clue. It would just be a reasonable explanation for massive delays in communication, things taking long to fix, various irrationalities that may be generated by barriers in timezone and language. It would also make sense with the turn to squeezing as many cents out of GoW as possibly.

Once again, pure conjecture on my part. I have nothing solid to back this up other than observation.

Unless the devs want more egg on their face, they should take the player friendly approach to this like they did with Soulforge upgrade rewards, ie. Epic Vault Keys, Books of Deeds, Orb of Power, etc. for 1,000 souls (I think), and take the L on this one instead of banning accounts.

I wouldn’t be surprised to find a lot of outsourcing with GoW. Mainly because they long ago admitted that the art was outsourced, so it’s already in the game’s DNA. Problems with communicantion and delivery of fixes/compensation are probably deeper than that though. IP2 sits in the middle of demands from the publisher, the platforms, and the players, and what might make sense to us as the players doesn’t make sense to stuffy suits who think video games are a means to extract money from the ignorant masses. Art, enjoyment, functionality…not important to the people with the purse.

As a software developer who does all her work on a laptop, if my company expected me to “take the work home” and be checking on things constantly (outside of official ops/on call rotation), I would be furiously looking for another job :stuck_out_tongue:
People have lives. Let them be :peace_symbol:

Frankly, even if there is a dev out there keeping an eye on things, seeing this particular issue (campaign reset), I would assume they would go “****, another one. Well, game’s not broken, people can still play, I’ll bring it up to important people first thing in the morning when we’re back at work and we can figure out how to deal with it”.

Considering the response they usually get on the forums, I’m sure coming here to give us an update is the last item on the agenda.

Another thing to keep in mind, when the campaigns bugged before and were missing quests they couldnt simply add them during the week and we had to wait for the stars to be sent to us in the mail. I guess we will see if they truely could adjust these things or that was as excuse because it didnt impact their $$ in the end. This does and im sure things will be different

Why am I an apologist? I’m asking for them to organize shifts and employ more staff if necessary.

I’m not excusing no one being available at all time, or the weekends (especially since they love to launch stuff on Friday - someone needs to be there if something goes wrong).

You sound a bit like those shitty employers that think people should be available for work 24/7 while only getting paid minimum wage.

No matter how mad I am at the devs, they still deserve their free time and time to be actually away from work stuff.

Shifts, more employees - that’s the answer.
Not asking your staff to give up their whole life for the company.

“There’s an old saying in Tennessee - I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee - that says, fool me once, shame on - shame on you.”

Lacking shame, they might listen to a sharp decrease in $$$ and playing customers.

Also feedback on the various platforms is an useful way to help other to not get fooled once, twice and again.

Not yet, but given their time zone, I expect an answer in a few hours

I think it’s some or all of this, plus too few people.

They added PQ3 but did the add programmers?

The only thing I see is more updates, more events, more monetization but also more bugs, more lies, more dodging of questions.

They need massive changes of they don’t want to go belly up at some point.

The games seem successful enough to not let them die because of greed

Ok i tried easy maths

So game was screwed at 7am uk time

There from melbourne, and time was 6pm then.

If a job is 24 hours
Then yes there should be staff 24 hours.

Your local shop shuts 6pm staff go home and chill.
A hospital is 24 hours.
See the difference.

Game maintenance is a 24 hour job.
So 24 hours.

There should always be someone available.
They take money from customers 24 hours a day.

The time you work, depends on the job you do.

Everyones allowed free time, its called weekends, holidays.

And employers sack staff that cant do there jobs properley.
These devs mess up way to many times to still have a job.

Just because everyone is woke and snowflake and say the right thing nowadays.

Doesnt mean we shouldnt get a good service.
Dont you agree.
