Additional info: The change doesn’t take effect until the next battle, and it was like this in v1.0.6 as well.
Bump because I forgot about this topic, and I’m still curious. 
As described above, the same thing happens in the current version:
There might be an error that occurs when implementing the option mid-battle.
So to best avoid the textual issue it’s been neglected from being added.
Though this is purely speculation.

Odd that it would show up at all in that case…
This actually could be the textual error that occurs. When implemented mid-battle it possibly fails to actually change anything, so to avoid player confusion the feature was removed entirely.
Still speculation here.
