A New Kingdom

I had an idea for a new kingdom, related to status effects.
Thought I’d share it here. Feel free to use the idea, or do something similar, if you like it.

Kingdom name: Avonula
Description: Avonula was a beautiful city of tranquil fun and free trade, but has become polluted and inflicted in recent times. The residents have been altered by this, learning to thrive in their suffering but any peace has long since fled.
Troop type: Mutant
Class: Afflicted
Gem Mastery: Yellow
Tributes: Gold: 10, Glory: 100, Souls: 25
Skill bonus: Magic
Map Position: Right of Darkstone, Down from Blighted Lands, on the coast
Banner: Banner of decay - +2 Yellow, +1 Blue, -1 Green

New traits:
Common Traits -

  • Mutated Claws - deals +5% skull damage per status effect on myself, up to 100%.
  • Mutated Armour - take 5% less skull damage per status effect on myself, up to 50%.
  • Mutated Spirit - takes 5% less spell damage per status effect on myself, up to 50%.
  • Mutant Bond - all ally mutants gain +2 life.
  • Pre-existing Affliction - at the start of battle, inflict a random status effect on myself.

Legendary Traits -

  • Contaminate - There is a 50% chance to inflict a random status effect on a random enemy at the start of my turn.
  • Flourish - There is a 50% chance to inflict a random status effect on a random ally at the start of my turn.

Mythic Traits:

  • Defensive Spray - Inflict a random status effect on a random enemy when enemies gain an Extra Turn.
  • Corrosive Infection - Deal 3 damage to all enemies whenever a status effect is inflicted on any troop.

And here’s some ideas of what the infected look like. I imagined them being like otters, but mutated.

AI generators actually do a good job for this, given that the troops SHOULD look wrong.

I absolutely love this.

Just a couple of things, all troops are mostly mythologically
based.

Also there’s Latin used vulpines vulpacea.

So only thing I’d maybe change is call the otters

For the delve side of the kingdom, I had this thought.

Description: An open sore in the landscape of the underworld, where vile creatures dwell and seek to contaminate any who approach.

Hadn’t thought about that. Thanks. Lutrines sounds great. Thought the idea of fierce otters that had become war-like because they’re corrupted by toxic water would fit the idea that otters are usually peaceful and cute in stories, like Narnia as you say.

Mutant honey badgers would be AWESOME. Hadn’t thought about that, but I’d love to see honey badgers troops. Maybe that would make a better delve option, and some of the normal kingdom troops could be centaur-type mutants.

There’s defo a disassociation between the names of the creatures.

And the otter species tho.

I’d try and find any references to otters in any type of mythology.

Not every troop has to have an otter related name.
But a good amount should.

The game does that a lot.

Toxic water, mutating otters into talking fighting beings.

So you’ll need one with freaky eyes.
One with maybe different coloured skin
One with skin falling off, like a zombie/rabies type

The underworld ones, maybe blind otters.
One wearing steam punk glasses

We had a TV show over here in UK called the wombles.

Have a look at how they were dressed.

Maybe for inspiration, for the underworld otters.

Otr would be good. Ahuízotl and Wadjet seem to be the only names I can find, but I do like the idea of using mythology for some of the names.

I also hadn’t come up with all the details for the class yet, but figured it would have a similar trait to the main mutant ones, making it more powerful the more status effects it has, but it’d be a unique one. And then, the other traits would be about causing status effects.

So otters have claws

So a mythic spell.

Rabid claws

6 true damage attacks on random enemies
With 50% chance to inflict , poison and disease
And 10% chance for lethal damage. :wink:.

And the true damage can be low but scale with status effects. Perfect.
First thought was for the chance of lethal damage to increase, but that might but too powerful unless it was limited (like, “up to 25%”, or something). But yeah, that’s the kind of spell that would work well with Lutrines/Mutants.

So all your spells have to be par the course.
Nothing over the top

6 true damage attacks is stronger than morthani
Then you’ve a little extra with poison and disease.
So 10 percent would be a max for lethal .

You can’t make anything stronger than boss troops.

Tried the AI generator with womble clothing and it doesn’t seem to know what that is, but it did give this (among a bunch of t-shirts and shorts and coats).

I really don’t like mutants it’s to X-Men marvel.

Maybe Lutrines dwarfs
And underworld. Lutrines undead.

Then you can incorporate a stormheim enemy as lore.

Yeah, trying to figure out the balance compared to other troops is tricky, definitely can’t be stronger than boss troops if it’s a mythic (or mythics for a legendary, etc). That’s why I though having it deal low damage on the six strikes, with a scaling, would be better.
Thanks for your help, think this could be a great idea if it gets added to the game (with whatever tweaks they decide to make, obviously).

Yeah, I get what you mean. Having a name for them specifically, like Lutrines, is better. I just wanted to use Mutant to emphasise the gimmick of them being altered by the toxins, but I guess “mutant” feels more like a genetic thing, so it’s not right for that. Mutated claws/armour/spirit would still work, but the class being Lutrine would fit better.
