So, the latest update just dropped and we’re still waiting for exact patchnotes, but I thought I’d point out what I noticed, and what I thought, and ask others to give their feedback too.
So, firstly the post battle screen has changed, and I quite like it, since you fit more info on the screen and it focuses on what’s important. Haven’t tested it with world events and stuff, but hoping the specific rewards get top priority.
Secondly, epic chests have arrived and they look rubbish as hell. 18% chance of a random icon? No thanks, not interested. Sure, we also get 41% chance of the featured immortal and 41% chance of a random immortal, but it’s still almost a 1 in 5 chance of wasted burning marks, and these chests cost a lot more at 25 burning marks. I’d expect the higher price to guarantee something worth buying.
Can’t see anything else, so let me know if you spot any changes and what you think of the update. Thanks.
I think it’s faster, which is nice, but I think it could have been done better. There’s a lot of screen space, but we still have things showing up offscreen.
They’ve changed the droprates for normal burning chests - absolute garbage pieces have gone 1% down, gold marks have gone 1% up, the same old with immortal souls.
Post battle screen change needs more time in different kinds of battle to see what is what, but looks promising at first glance.
Epic burning chests…meh, I’ll pass. With more than twice the price, still containing all the icon junk and no gold marks - I’m not really interested. It’s positive that silver marks have been removed, but I feel I’m simply not enough into immortal souls alone to open any epic chests right now.
I was expecting to see a new batch of Dragonite Dragons in the Soulforge, which didn’t happen. I’m not sure if they are meant to be added this patch (and they will between now and next week) or we have to wait for next year.
In regards of new pvp chest option, I’ll have to decide how to use them next season.
New UI for rewards, not sure how I feel about it. It’s a mixed feelings.
I was expecting changes in the Soulforge (increasing the number of mythics and adding flower dragons).
I don’t feel like epic burning chests are a solution to the problem “two immor(t)als are added to the pool every season”. But as immor(t)als haven’t become “an ultimate game changer”, as Sirrian promised… Well, I’m not going to bother with maxing them (except for Ossifer, of course).
Okay, I’ll post a new line and not edit the original post.
A little bit of finger-counting -
Epic chests costs 25 marks to open and has 18% of unwanted junk in it, meaning that I waste 25x0.18=4.5 marks per chest.
Normal chest costs 10 marks to open and has 34% of unwanted junk in it, meaning that I waste 10x0.34=3.4 marks per chest.
Well, I guess that fully settles the question of whether I want to open epic chests or not. (Yeah, and my Immortal Ossifer has its traits unlocked which, in my language, means it’s fully functional. Any further upgrade is waaaaay down the priority list and is not something I would spend my energy on right now.)
Getting Immortal Ossifer to level 30 will be a dream for many players. But I feel it will take a lot of participation in the remaining 9 pvp seasons, along with luck, and along with debating on whether to pay more for more chances.
If they removed pvp icons from epic burning chests, then I might have been persuaded to try this new feature out but sorry, no thanks. I’m planning on drastically reducing my play time for the holidays while waiting for the upcoming guild war news.
At least the chance of getting ‘some’ souls is better from an epic chest, 82% vs only 48% from the normal.
And an immortal can be kinda randomly targeted, especially the current one, which will be good for those players who buy every season pass and get most of the original immortals maxed.
But the average soul payout is nerfed to balance this a bit…
Only 1.176 souls/burning mark from an epic chest
Compared to 1.23 souls (and .36 gold mark)/burning mark from the normal ones.
Pretty much meh…
I’m kinda internally debating on these Epic Burning Chests.
Everything on paper says they’re bad at 25 Burning Marks, but it might be able to get the last few levels needed for payers to get the featured Immortal for the season to hit 30 at the cost of basically never maxing everything else from falling behind.
There’s 900 Burning Marks from the Season Pass and I believe 270 Burning Marks from Season Goals… 1170, which is 80 short of a 50 epic chest pull.
I don’t know… There’s some kind number in one of these things that feels off. Not enough souls? Not enough Burning Marks in a season to get a 50 pull from the epic chests? Icons showing up?
another new update but no news on GUILD WARS YET!!! are you kidding me plus when are you going take a way silver marks out of the burning marks loot, silver marks is ridiculous
That’s nothing new. I remember when they just introduced the current look of troop cards. You also had mix of old UI and new UI for a while, together with different shades of green on the buttons,
