Please get Gems of war added to Xbox games pass, so that I can earn rewards from playing it daily. Plus you might get a lot more people playing it.
It is a ‘free’ to play game. Microsoft pays companies to have them on game pass. It will never happen.
Fortnite is also a free to play game, but since the Fortnite Crew benefits got added to Gamepass Ultimate, playing Fortnite counts as a Gamepass game for all the benefits you get for that, like extra reward points.

Fortnite is a 1 off. They made a special deal that I predict will not last long. Most people can care less about Crew benefits and will not drive more players like they think. IOW, if you are a fortnite player you always have been. Give Ultimate an option to not have that benefit and reduce it back down to $20 a month. IOW, they ‘added’ something that most people never redeem. If you need to play a gamepass game for 15 minutes a day, load something on a pc and let it idle. I would rather have cross save for gems of war like puzzle quest 3.

You need to understand the bigger picture adding it to game pass, Microsoft gets X amount of users regularly playing content on game pass, also the players get funds from getting points on game pass, which they can spend on gow.
Though I can’t disagree if anyone feels like they are different games. To me Microsoft won’t be in a hurry to partner with Gems of War due to them now owning Candy Crush.
I played Candy Crush daily until I downloaded Gems of War. So for me it was a gateway “drink”. And if Gems of War ended tomorrow, I would probably reinstall Candy Crush.
