Official News including scoring system - Winter of Our Dreams – Gems of War
tl;dr Shop Tier 2 should be enough to achieve fair share of 1/30, but if you’re lucky, Tier 1 may get there (leaderboard had several 72 battle/1290 scores). Conversely, a very unlucky Tier 2 buy may not reach 1/30 (LB showed 70 battle/1240 scores).

Score range based on Valraven multiplier 2.1-2.4, point range 17-18*. Score system has been known to change after a few hours/days. Most recent event to use similar flat point structure was Jul 20, Infernal Invasion. That one had 6 troop types, 4 possible scores and 5 spawn points
* The average points comes down after more battles have been done, when high-scoring spawns have been cleared and one is forced to take low scoring ones. As more scores show up in the leaderboard, the long-term average becomes clearer - it hovers around 17.5
The map spawns and replacement spawns have been pre-determined. Everyone can generally follow the same advice -
- highest rarity
- lowest level
To arrive at the same score by number of completed battles. The number of battles you can complete per shop tier however, depends entirely on your valraven luck.
Comments on scoring
- There are 2 separate random determinations that affect your score
a) The number of Valravens that spawn. This typically gives you battles equal to 2.1x-2.4x your starting sigils
b) The mix of high/low scoring battles that spawn. This appears to be within the bounds of 17-18 (source: leaderboard) -
The doubly-random nature of scoring and the very flat point system means that resulting score as a function of shop tier bought is not always “buy more, score more”.shop tiers may outscore unlucky players who bought an extra tier
a) Lower tiers especially have an overlap. Tier 0 may outscore a Tier 2 buy.
