I see too much negativity around this game directed at the devs, and it gets old.
I know I could just stay out of the forums but this is the feedback we give them and with so much negativity towards them, we’re lucky they don’t just get sick of the complaining and throw in the towel.
Point being is if you don’t like the game then just quit.
I’ve been here 10 years strong now with a 2 month break due to personal reasons and I’ve also seen many legends come and go amd to also return again.
That’s just how it goes.
So for Pete’s sake quit complaining and let’s just enjoy the game they give us and as i said once, I’ll say it again that if you don’t like it do us all a favor and leave.
Thanks for reading and that’s my complaint against complaints.
@Jeto, you and the team keep up the great work delivering us fun daily.
I’m always curious of what’s in store for us next.
And yeah i have complaints too, but hey, nothing is gonna change.
It’s their game and they’ll do what they want to it.
I’m just glad to give feedback and they listened to some of my ideas.
Anyways It’s been a while since i have said my piece.
Alliances are unbalanced, guild wars is a joke and the new kingdom upgrade system is great.
I’m looking forward to a higher explore and pvp is lame.
There. I think that’s enough from me.
Thanks for reading and have a great day.
San.
I honestly think it’s better than it used to be, and I see more people thoroughly explaining their point of view rather than just harping on the devs. I think Jeto has helped a lot with the community feeling heard, even if we don’t always see the results we want.
What counts as complaints and what counts as feedback?
What would allow you to specifically be the only one allowed to say Alliances are unbalanced and guild wars is a joke?
If we follow what you said, you’d have to quit complaining that Alliances are unbalanced and guild wars is a joke.
Just stay quiet and be thankful? Or hope the devs can properly adjust things to make the experience better for everyone?
Maybe you’re right. just have people stay quiet and then quit and then wonder why the money isnt coming in and the player base is a lot smaller.
That really doesn’t line up. If you’re enjoying the game they give you, why would pvp be lame?
At some point, some things said are feedback and if people don’t like what they’re saying it’s a complaint instead. That’s not right either.
You’d know what I’d like?
Does it matter what I say? no.
But a larger player base would be nice. I miss when guilds weren’t struggling with recruitment.
Before Jeto, the forums used to be mostly a place where players were carrying pitchforks due to unanswered frustrations (‘mods’ would consistently remain silent on most topics/threads), or because the ‘mods’ were powertripping and on banning sprees.
It is now a place where we can see communication between the playerbase and the GoW team, even if the messages being conveyed are not always to everyone’s liking.
If I understood what was written, I think Santandrix’s post is more about when someone just shares persistent and repeated negative comments that are not constructive in any way, or are just complaining for complaining sake to escalate a situation intentionally or “stir the pot” as it were.
Versus players who have negative feedback, concerns etc about a situation. I think we can agree there is a visible distinction between those sort of comments when reading them.
It’s valid to get to a point where you are frustrated about something not getting addressed and sharing that frustration, but it’s inappropriate to just blow up about it, take it out on others, cuss out the team or players, and continuously be heated about an issue. That energy helps no one, it affects others in that space, and doesn’t make something happen any faster, and maybe an indication to just step away from a moment if you are getting to that level. Like anything in life that is bothering you so extremely
Don’t think anyone is suggesting to keep complaints and feedback to yourself. At the end of the day, I will step in if needed.
Also, thanks for the kind words… means a lot.. I don’t have a folder with them saved or anything
I used to be the type that would complain a lot… took a break from the game, but am back now with a fresh perspective. I think its important to always remember that yall are all humans too, and people are welcome to play the game for free. I dont get the complaints. Thank you all for doing a great job.
Most of my resentment comes from the disrespectful way that the 9.2 conversion was handled. I was emotional, but it was for good reason. With over 200k PvP wins and all the gold marks I spent upgrading kingdoms, the value that Skorpion and others lost was…astronomical. That’s why the topic,“I’ve been punished for my play style” had to be closed. We did the math, and people who did not have Crystals left over are now bottle-necked in a new kingdom upgrading system that needs to be reworked. Crystals only being offered in Daily Deals and Arena offers is extremely limiting.
Not to mention that removing deed books from the PvP shop and not replacing them with Crystals (Colored and Rainbow) was a huge mistake. Gold marks have almost no value now and people will probably just casually collect them, hoping that they will have value again.
And since deeds were removed from offers while doing Explore, that removed another activity that could help raise your Kingdom levels, unless you still need Medals for upgrading troops. But hopefully the new Explore update will add something “creative” to help make this game better.
I know that the developers have a lot on their plate and Patch 9.2 just came out, but if we do not get any more sources of Crystals (outside of money offers), the new Kingdom upgrading system feels relatively worse than the old one that we had.
Should note, any specific feedback and suggestions, etc, are not the topic of this thread and should be kept in their own relevant threads - if it hasn’t been shared already
“Why the hassle if you don’t like the game? Just quit”
Then, as Jeto says, there is a complaint and complaint. The threats like “You have to change, or else I quit,” we agree, it’s useless, unfortunately, as long as there is a community, there will be gratuitous negativity…
Compared to what I’ve been able to see since I started GoW (even though I only recently set up an account on the forum). Rather, I have the impression that feedback (negative or not) is generally more built with an aim of understanding and/or improvement.
I agree with the feedback from @NerdieBirdie and @AMT, an active presence of the team (mainly Jeto, not to say almost that Jeto ), contributes significantly to this change in exchanges, which makes things a bit more interesting.
Unfortunately, afterwards (and it was seen with the “I’ve been punished for my play style”), divergent points of view that can quickly go in all directions. He still has progress to make, and I’m not just talking about the disgruntled players. Some criticized “Negative” feedback simply because they are completely happy with the update. Without necessarily taking the time to understand the questions and feedback…
In any case, Jeto is doing a great job of communicating, even though it’s a shame that some questions are deliberately left unanswered, like the choice made for the conversions from update 9.2.
All this to say that keeping silent is not a solution, but being unpleasant is even less so regardless of the point of view of each player.
I disagree with the idea that if the devs make a terrible decision and you’re unhappy about it, you should quit the whole game (especially without trying to tell them it was a bad decision and get them to undo it). If it affects the whole game to the point you can’t enjoy it, maybe then, but that’s unlikely to be the case.
The whole point of a forum like this is to be able to give feedback to the team making the game, about problems in the game. Often that’s gonna be bugs, but it can be feedback about bad choices, like designs they made or changes. Maybe they won’t actually listen, but they still need to be told when players are unhappy about something, even if it’s just so they understand why they start playing less or leaving the game.
There’s a big difference between giving that kind of feedback vs just being angry and venting on here. If you get to that stage, you might need to step away for a while to clear your head, but that doesn’t mean everyone who sees a dumb change should quit the whole game.
There’s no point in explaining myself if you don’t understand where I’m coming from…
And yes there is a difference between feedback, constructive criticism and then just pointless complaining.
I believe there is a way to get our points across without threats or ultimatums.
This is a game not a marriage.
Seemed a decent place to drop a little thank you to the devs for making the new PvP season before the Guild Wars rather than just after it. MUCH APPRECIATED!!
I would say to remember how small the dev team is now b4 complaining its probably a lot of work for not enough people these days.
Its like going to a resteraunt where the grill cook is also the drive thru the shakes the hospitality and then crashing out because they forget your extra cheese cup.
There wasn’t any active planning involved. There’s a fixed schedule for PvP seasons (every 11 weeks) and Guild Wars (every 4 weeks), the same constellation will happen again in 44 weeks.
The Xbox player base has drastically dropped. Mostly due to players not playing console games. But if you look at the game ratings and reviews, it has dropped down to a 3.4 rating out of 5 with 1564 players providing feedback. Just scrolling back in chronological order, almost every review from 2024 is a 1 star. If I was a new player trying to decide to play this game, the reviews would push me away and not even look at this game. (I gave ths game a 5 star about 6-7 years ago)
On playstation, the game has a 3.98 rating, with 22,712 ratings. I can’t see chronological ratings, but I can see the breakdown of current ratings, and 56% gave it 5 stars, 15% 4 stars, 12% 3 stars, 3% 2 stars, and 14% 1 star.
People do seem to be giving it lower ratings and it’s because we’re annoyed with the current direction of the game development. I wouldn’t be surprised if the ratings were putting people off. I know there’s entire communities that warn people NOT to play this game, because of certain dev decisions.
