What new UI change do you want next?

It’s become obvious that the devs have decided to focus on making a bunch of UI changes, without being asked to, and we can’t convince them to cut it out and push those resources to better things, so I figured we might as well have somewhere we can point them towards UI changes that we actually DO want.

So, here it is. Anything in the game that needs new UI changes? Anywhere that feels old and tired and could do with freshening up? Anything you don’t like that you’d like to see different? Here’s the place to put them.

And maybe we’ll see those areas get focused on first. Or maybe once we start asking for this, they’ll stop and focus on something else we don’t want.

As for myself, I’m throwing the pet rescue menu in as an option.

It’d be nice to have the menu look a bit better, and since they’re moving away from tabs and into buttons (presumably because they’re limited to how many tabs they can have, but not to how many buttons they can cram into a screen), we could have one screen with a path (like journey or kingdom reborn rewards screens), and buttons down the side that lead to other options. We can chase the pet thieves down the path, and rescue the pet at the end, rather than just having boxes, and it can look prettier. We can even have different path decorations for the different colour pet rescues, if they want to focus on that, like the cool pictures behind the daily plunder each week, which are one of the best UI additions to the game, for what it’s worth.

The upcoming Bounty event this weekend reminds me that the checkerboard battle layout and rewards are horribly outdated. If it doesn’t take them too much effort, they could make the battles sequenced like how they do the opening tutorial battles with a new map layout to make that more engaging.

The rewards have been outdated ever since gnome-a-paloozas were introduced, but we need things like dragonite, shiny keys, and pet/glory/forging orbs to make Bounty feel more rewarding. I honestly just buy the bounty troop from the shop and don’t even waste my time with it anymore.

Display room rewards in Tower of Doom! (Probably more than just a UI change involved here but still )

I’m the same.

But I also assume that Bounty is aimed at the less-progressed player and not really intended for an endgamer like myself. As such, I treat the weekend as a “freebie” to do whatever else, whether inside the game or not.

Displaying the treasure multiper on the map for each room in a delve. I’d love for it to be available right there on the map, instead of having to click through each room to find the number, then having to check the remaining rooms again after a few battles because I’ve probably forgotten where the best is.

Showing the current quantity owned of items when they’re offered by both the Merchant or Angel.

Let us zoom the world / underworld / PvP maps out further so we can see the entire map at once.

Make the Underspire map behave more like the world map – with drag and zoom navigation; the current stepwise map feels so clunky. And if you can zoom the Underspire map out fully, you no longer need the overview map.

Oh, and give Treasure Hunt a landing page so that you’re not immediately committed to a game when you click on its tile in Games.

Bounty: Buy the troop and go sleeping! SORRY

This won’t be popular on my end since its both a be careful what you wish for and semi-pointless to most people, but the Shop tab needs changes badly.

I legitimately dislike the left to right scrolling and the shop offers are displayed in a way that takes up a lot of space and is somehow inefficient.

The entire resource tab needs to go: it’s designed to rip off new players to a high degree, but I don’t think new players are dumb enough to fall for it either. At no point in my Gems of War career did I think 240 Gems for 70,000 gold was a good deal, not even day 1.

Back to generalization: the entire thing comes off as a mess to me and the devs indirectly agree with me because they had to make a brand new separate PvP shop instead of attaching it to the existing shop.

(I have gripes with the PvP Shop too, like having to scroll despite pets being a 5 option menu. Or Icons exchange being jammed in with other purchasable in the Others tab. or mainly how much scrolling I have to do to reach the end of the Others tab for things like Books)

P.S. The shrines offer really needs to leave the main screen and get shoved into the Subscriptions section of the Shop

Get rid of the “!” for monetized menus like shrines. I do not care about the shrines or how much “progress” I’ve made with completing them.

Now for the real UI change I want:
Display room rewards in Tower of Doom once a guild member has cleared it. This improvement is more complicated, because I’m not sure how the devs would do this. In theory, since the entire guild shares every floor in Tower of Doom, it should be possible to reveal rewards each time a player has completed that room. However, as frustrating as mapping floors is, I accept the reality that at least Tower of Doom is functional and has no on-going bugs to fix. So, while I want it, I wouldn’t say it’s something that should be a major focus. Unfortunately, if the game is alive long enough, we’ll see the inevitable Tower of Doom rework that somehow makes it worse.
