World peace AND a million real-life dollars in each player’s bank account is the ONLY acceptable compensation for this atrocity. Who knows how many lives this mistake cost - hundreds? thousands? hundreds of thousands?
Sarcasm aside, I do understand why people are frustrated by the time and effort they lost from the rollback, especially as it was due to a dev mistake. That said, this is the first server rollback in GoW history (someone correct me if I’m wrong), which goes to show both how massive this mistake was and how strongly rollbacks have been avoided in the past. Rollbacks on any game are almost guaranteed to cause some community outrage, broken trust, and loss of players. The fact that they chose to go this route demonstrates the severity of the issue and the likelihood that there was not another feasible way to remove the resources (spent and unspent).
Again, I get why people are upset, but it’s wild to me how many people are saying they should have just let us keep the resources (essentially the company giving out hundreds of thousands, maybe even MILLIONS of dollars) so that we don’t lose a few hours of playtime (and most players played far less than that, I’d wager!). I’m interested in what compensation will be, but don’t expect it to be thousands of gems or refunding of all the money you’ve ever spent on the game, as some are asking for.
I’m a mental health counselor. If someone is so emotionally dependent on the game that this would spark clinical levels of anxiety and depression, that’s an individual issue to be worked on with appropriate treatment providers, not a fault of the developers.
Eika, not trying to attack you, and I totally get where you’re coming from, but the fact you’re coming into this with the attitude of “devs won’t actually give us fair compensation so we might as well ask for way less” just shows how bad the devs have been in the past and how much stuff like this rollback has destroyed player confidence in them.
We need to state what the compensation SHOULD be, not what we expect they’ll be willing to give us.
I agree they probably won’t want to actually be FAIR. We know they aren’t like that. But we should tell them what fair is, especially so we can measure them against it when they do give something and point out how lacking it might be (and probably will be).
The resources are time, not necessarily money. Most people do not pay real money to acquire those resources so they are not going to be losing money on it. However, telling the player base that their time is not respected, is a very bad move.
You take the loss and move on, that’s how you show your player base that you respect them.
I truly hope you don’t treat your patients this way. If you are in the mental health space, you should know full well how something like this can have such a negative impact on someone’s mental health. When someone pours a significant amount of time into reaching a focused goal, then that be pulled away from them with zero recourse, it can be truly devastating.
Completely discounting someone’s response to it, is not normal for someone in your position so I’m inclined to agree with the other person that you are not truly in this space. If you are, it would be in your patient’s best interest for you to reconsider your career choice because you are doing more harm than good.
I pay for pvp and campaign passes. I didn’t get my gold marks yesterday, the only thing I care about. Still haven’t received library rewards, which i paid for.
Woke up to 1000 gold, 1 glory key, and a Thanks for Playing message.
They need to bite the bullet and give us 1000 gems.
I lost all of my hourly bonuses as well as all of my PVP progress and resources and the dungeon. That’s quite a lot of gold, gems, traitstones, jewels, and diamonds. As a guild we also have to redo all of our Tower progress. They need to offer real compensation.
