What does magic do?

Hello! I’m a newbie, and I play on mobile. Each character has four abilities: armor, life, attack, and magic. The first three are obvious. But what does magic do? I’m guessing that it changes the effects of spells, but I’m not at all sure. For example, if a character has 1 magic and its spell hits the first enemy for five, and then some effect increases that character’s magic to 2, its spell might hit for six. Is that correct?

You are right, depending of your magic level your spell gonna be stronger

You can raise magic by using soul to level up your troop and ascend them when you got enough card to change their rarity and get stronger
