What color(s)? How much mana?

This is a question I’ve had for a while, but I haven’t been able to get a screenshot to truly illustrate my point for it yet until now.

My questions are exactly as the title states. If I match the 3 Umbral Stars in the bottom left, Before trigger and gather mana from the other gems they destroy, what kind of match will they count as and how much mana will they give my Stellarix?

By studying the board, matching the 3 Umbral Stars should fill Stella up in one go, because it’ll also trigger the Elemental Star to the left, which will cause a chain reaction of its own.

Which it did but how much mana was the match supposed to give, and what effective color(s) was it supposed to give before it triggered and destroyed all the gems when all 3 triggered?

none. stars themselfs do not provide mana, only destroys gems + or X shape.

Stars do provide mana. They give one mana of each colour they affect. So elemental stars give one blue, one red, one green and one brown. Astral stars give one yellow and one purple. It says so in the heroic gem guide in the game, for example.
Matching three on their own would therefore just give three mana of each colour affected. In this case, three purple and three yellow. Since it’s not also creating a 3-match with another colour, that would presumably be the only mana generated.
And then, as has been said, it “explodes” the row and column (the game info states destroys, but it only gives half-mana for each gem affected, so it IS an explosion, but doesn’t explode in the same way as other explode effects. This was discussed in another thread.) EDIT: My mistake, got this confused with lightning gems. Elemental/umbral gems do just destroy gems.
So, based on the screenshot, you will get 3 purple and 3 yellow for the match, then one of each colour for the elemental and umbral stars destroyed by the explosion, then the mana of the three bottom rows, the third column from the left, the second column from the right, and the second diagonal up from the bottom left corner.

So, 5 yellows, 6 red, 5 blue, 8 purple, 4 green, 1 brown get destroyed, plus 3 skulls for 3 damage to first troop.

At least, that’s how it’s officially supposed to work.

Really? I thought it was only lightning gems that worked that way (which seems like a bug).

Just found the thread I was thinking of. Yes, it was lightning gems, not elemental/umbral gems. My mistake. I’ll edit original reply. Oops.
