Maybe this is a “me thing” that I get bothered by this, but the vault reward indicator doesnt appear on the highlighted rewards or some of the smaller rewards (e.g. gems or gem keys)
You can see it on souls, in the screenshot attached.

It’s not a Vault reward indicator. It’s an indicator that the marked resource came from multiple sources (e.g. the normal battle reward and a Gnome). Clicking it gives a breakdown of each source.

They used to do an indicator on every item from a gnome, and each one had a separate slot, but since they changed the rewards screen (and we’re still waiting for them to finish those changes, BTW), they removed the indicator and added a sack on stuff from multiple gnomes, instead, as said above.
It’s a shame, because it would be nice to know exactly what came from gnomes, sometimes.

It would honestly be amazing if we could just completely skip the vault battles all together. That’s right. Just open them up like any other key in the game and just collect our rewards.
It’s a huge waste of time opening up 100’s of keys, only to keep getting Cedric Butt-Sack over and over again. I think I have over 2,500 of him now.

It doesn’t do that for the daily adventure board for gold/souls tasks though. And I know some places are coded differently, like delve will say “X delve souls” in addition to souls, but the adventure board just adds it all together and doesn’t have any sort of breakdown. It only shows that icon with gnomes.
Additionally, if two gnomes give the same rewards (e.g. gem keys), it also doesn’t show that icon, so your logic here, while it would make sense doesn’t check out.

Yeah, I’ve been playing for long enough to have remembered that.
Honestly, this doesn’t even affect anything… It’s just me being very picky, which is why I said it’s likely a “me thing” in my initial post.

Not a good idea. I used to use vault battles for class leveling since they give 2 class xp per battle.

Vault key battles are also good for using your temp bonuses.
