My guess is it’s the last mode besides chests that existed on Adobe Air before the change to Unity. Any of the code is probably like a house of sticks and even a minor change would crash the whole thing.
it’s releasing next week
Ohh, that’s really good to know that the Lanterns only double the rewards from the Victory screen and not the Treasure Chests which drop after the new Trap and Treasure rooms!
Thank you for the heads up on this.
I can easily see myself expecting to ‘double’ a reward in a chest and being disappointed otherwise! ![]()
Yeah, lanterns not affecting chests has been normal so far, but it’s good to get a confirmation in advance, not having to test stuff out ourselves, and have people waste lanterns.
There’s only 1 possible powder room in an underspire, why are the rewards so low? 2-4 Torches or an extremely low chance of getting a lantern, seriously? You added all these extra rooms which means most people are going to have to drop 300 gems at least 4-5 times a week to explore every inch of the place, this is quite a costly endeavor for the majority of players. There needs to be a bit more of a wow factor with this room, the rewards should be 4-8 Torches and at least a 10% chance of getting a lantern.
Very underwhelming. So no updates for me.
If the rewards are bad, players won’t have to spend gems to find them. If they’re good, it’ll be worth spending gems to find them.
We’ll have to wait and see, but most of these rooms aren’t likely to be worth doing extra exploring to find, just nice to find when doing your normal exploring. And for that, it looks good.
If you’re a completionist, trying to find every room, it might be a bad addition, but for most players, it’s just extra free stuff, occasionally.
I would like to have more of these rooms, and a minimum number of treasure rooms, not for it to be possible to get none, but even having a chance to get them is better than nothing, I guess.
Hm. Thanks for the work, I guess. Nice to know the new reward rooms don’t use torches (except Treasure, the only one that matters…). Guess we’re still hanging out in the Treasure Hunt waiting room though.
Correct me if I am wrong, but do we actually get the same number of Treasure Guardian rooms each run, just that they are scattered across the underspire map? I have never counted them and that’s a pretty wild statement by the devs.
Just to point out, trap rooms and treasure rooms can appear anywhere, and use torches, but give rewards in return. Of the others, oracle rooms and secret passages only appear at dead ends, so ignore those, but trinket rooms, cursed mines and powder rooms can appear anywhere, so potentially can appear on a path, saving you a torch. If nothing else, it could mean you reach further for less gems if you get lucky. So, that’s another bonus, to the new rooms.
Secret passages may or may not be helpful. Since you probably won’t be able to tell how far along the path you are at the exit point, it might be a bad idea to use them at all, because you could just waste torches. But it may get you further for free, like potentially skipping a section and getting to later bosses earlier. If you somehow manage to skip the third boss and go to the fourth section, it’d be great.
I’ve never counted them either, and the statement is kinda vague. I’d love an official answer to that, though.
I assumed we had a range of amounts we get each time a map is made, like say 10-15, and the devs statement meant that the range was not changing, but if there is actually a specific amount every time, and it’s staying the same, then that’d be really useful to know.
Normally, there’s between 1 and 3 in each of the 6 sections (from start to first keystone = section 1, from first to second keystone = section 2, etc.), so the maximum is 18, the minimum is 6. It is possible, if the maze generates in such a way that there’s no space left, that one section gets 0 guardian rooms, but it’s quite rare. The lowest actual number I got was 9, I don’t think I ever got a full 18 (usually not more than 14-15).
The one thing I wanted to see from underside was sentinel dupe protection, all I can see here is the can being kicked down the road. When will they be added to the forge? 2027?
After all, it wasn’t the players who contributed to the technical debt, so why are they the ones suffering the consequences for so long? Furthermore, you are unable or unwilling, which is more likely to me, to resolve this issue because you haven’t committed to providing a fix date.
