Totem guardian dodging skull damage in arena

What you were expecting to happen, and what actually happened:

Trying to do skull damage to totem guardian with sylvestri in arena. Dodged completely several times. Neither troop had a status effect.

How often does this happen? When did it begin happening?
Not like I can duplicate arena battles at will.

Steps to make it happen again
REPLACE THIS TEXT WITH YOUR ISSUE. e.g. Sometimes there are certain steps that can lead to a problem that may not be obvious! Example: I lose once in the Arena, I then exit to the world map, select broken Spire on the Map and enter Arena. broken spire’s quest lost instead.

Totem guardian barriers all wargare on its cast and it is wargare/construct and when a troop has barrier the first instance of damage taken is fully negated and breaks the barrier. It also only costs 11 mana and creates gems on cast is it possible that it kept applying barrier each time? even fully traited (which they wont be in arena) it only has skull reduction no dodge mechanic. The barrier is the only thing I could think of that may be causing the loss of skull damage to it.
