I believe I’ve seen it many times - when my Zarg or Khafru, sitting in the rear row, explodes a skull and the skull hits the opponent with an active Reflect status, the game knows whom to give the retalliation strike. So, what’s the problem with Mimic gem? Give devoured stats to the troop, that triggered the gem, if it’s clearly known, or give devoured stats to the first or random troop of the acting team
Complete mess!!!
yeah i agree its a mess, a lot of back and forth.
mentioned this to the team, so I’m just leaving it with them for now.
In case you don’t hear it often enough: thank you for being you, and please never change or leave us.

The intention of the Mimic Gem was for it to look like a literal mimic, so when you triggered that effect, it would “eat” an opponent but the team didn’t want there to be any stat gain from that - which is where the idea of it looking like devour (the eating) came from.
Seems like that wasn’t possible to have a variant of Devour without the stat gain, as there is something in the programming that sets the first troop on your team as the “caster”, so they get the stat increase.
Which they had not seen in testing, thus all the further confusion about what we wanted it to do vs what we are now discovering it does…
There was also some changes that went out after my beta had ended, so we couldn’t test it
TLDR; Mimic Gem Devours, troop in your first slot gets the stat.
Sorry that took so long.
Dude your right. But you’ll get flagged. By the great unwashed offended ![]()
Dunno how old you are.
But pre DMs , 1 actual phone call. Would usually get every answer.
It’s the DMS back n forth that make it slow.
No one answers correctly.
They don’t know how to.
Not over enthused with devs playtesting skills….First mimic exploded resulted in top troop getting devour stats.
FWIW don’t change it.
Twice now I’ve seen the AI team destroy a Mimic gem triggering one of their own troops to be devoured. Working as intended?
You’re not the only one. I’m certain that I saw the exact same thing happen during a Guild Wars match today.
That’s even better
Beautiful balance. Underspire traps always act against player, Mimic gems always act against AI
