The Astral Spire: A detailed overview

I assume it is applied on top. So, if you are getting 10% from 1 Medal Orpheus, you get an addiional 20% but it is not applied after PER medal.

So if you had 3 medals, you don’t get 10% + 20% 3 times over. It’s one application of a 20% chance to cleanse at the start of your turn from the Astral Spire bonus

@Jeto After unlocking the Bountiful Gems Astral Spire node, I just tested this with Mang, which has a weapon affix of Warm: Create a red gem. It is now creating 2 red gems

Edit: Unless the actual Q here was supposed to be “I have a trait on my troop that creates gems. Does that get the gem creation bonus?”

The additional stuff on weapons are generally called prefixes, and just form part of the weapon’s spell. Like how delves can give troop spells additional prefixes, and do extra stuff, such as submerging the troop when casting the spell. So, it makes sense for those to create extra.
On the other hand, troop traits wouldn’t make sense, as those are not part of the spell. So, if a troop creates a gem at the start of the turn, it shouldn’t create two after unlocking the node.

But it’s hard to tell what the intended behaviour is, so who knows?

Yep, I definitely understand that logic and I think you’re right. I did mention that I was referring to a weapon affix above, I think it’s just the wording of the original question on the official Astral Spire Q&A that’s throwing me off.

I have a trait on my weapon that creates gems. Does that get the gem creation bonus?

Trait and weapon don’t really logically belong together, since weapons don’t have “traits,” as you mentioned. So I assumed it meant affix and weapon. But I think I mentally corrected the wrong way, and it’s referring to trait and troop. In which case, the behavior I’m seeing here makes sense.

Yeah, I think they meant their hero. That would make way more sense. Totally agree with you.

For the one Princess Elspeth fan out there, the Brown Capstone can also ignore her cast-kill on your own troops. A little odd since the Capstone only specifically says Enemy Spells and Traits so…

I presume it would work with Dullahan, Sacrifice, Abhorath, Scrificial Priest and The Widow Queen, too, then. There aren’t many troops that kill your own troops, rather than devouring them. I wonder if it would work on troops that self-sacrifice, too, like Fire Bomb and Bombot, or Festival Cow.

What should I do next, after this? I am bloody stuck.

One of these:

  1. If you care about achievements, grab the Brown Capstone.
  2. or grab the Brown magic near the Bountiful Gems
or skip the Brown Magic for later and:
  3. Move on to Blue and get the Blue Capstone, then Cleanse.
  4. or Move on to Yellow and grab Magic and the Dispel Capstone
5 or Move on to Purple and grab Magic

Troops to note:

Yellow/Purple: Dragons, obviously. Atlanta is both, for quick Explore purposes
Thrall is Purple
Bork is Yellow

I think the Mana Surge nodes are vastly underrated, but Brown’s Mana Surge node feels so out of the way.

I’m in the same spot. I’m gonna grab the capstone, and maybe the magic node to the left, then move to another board and go for gold nodes and/or capstones there. It’s up to you which ones you want most.

Apologies, yes it is meant to be Traits on troops
