We’ve had a number of players decide to leave the guild or stop playing GW because of the imbalances and frustrations with the current set up. Here are some basic thoughts on things to improve the current situation.
Add more troops to the forbidden list. Start with MDN. Then troops that generate (heroic) gems before their turn starts.
Disallow multiple copies of troops on defense teams.
Force defenders to play from maps other than green on a rotating basis.
Implement a choose-your-own-adventure aspect to scaling. Attackers can choose from a menu of scaling/difficulty at the cost/benefit or reduced/increased scoring for a win.
I’m not sure banning troops works in this game, because how often do we get a new troop that would actually justify it?
I think, instead, we need to do something about why certain kingdoms are weaker than others. Gold isn’t as useful anymore, souls are only useful if you want to waste them while medaling troops or still need to level up troops, ingots are more useless than gold and most of us have them in excess with nothing to spend them on.
So, whatever is done, it should ideally require gold, ingots, or both, but ingots are used to upgrade weapons. An update would require that they are also used to upgrade other things beside weapons. Maybe stats for a ridiculous amount of ingots.
I think Astral Spire is an attempt to even things out a bit. However, if I recall right, those stats and bonuses don’t apply when attacking during Guild Wars. Maybe I need to reread the patch notes to double check.
Overall, I’m not sure what the solution is. Maybe my ideas aren’t exactly that great. That aside, I’m sure most of us can agree that ingots need another use.
That would probably solve a good amount of problems.
The different colors having static defenses has always been part of the problem, since it just means solved defenses for the most part.
randomized per GW restrictions, but equal for all guilds layouts would be ideal.
I don’t think we need a perma-forbidden list, but a temp ban draft 3 troops (defensive) list in a guild vs guild setting that guild leaders would submit could have been a great idea if Guild Wars wasn’t structured like it was..
Iv a suggestion. Ban 1 colour guild wars. There to easy.
Red purple, green,yellow,brown and blue.
That’s 5 0 every day. I want that ban.
Ban elementalist on attack. It’s bad to be able to make all defensive troops have multi effects.
To easy imo.
If anyone wants bans on MY TROOPS on defence. Then I want bans on your troops on attack
I like guild wars, I lost at fairy ring on Thursday, to a ruby triple loop. But I didn’t then think omg ban ruby.
Nahhh guys. Time to get over ell this change guild wars bs. If it’s to easy , why play. Might as well play noughts n crosses.
I hate one colour guild wars hate with a passion. Ooo let’s pick 3 taks n Stella or wos or chrys. Hate one colour days. I’d rather play swords edge every month. Just boredom at the highest level.
Well, they’ve already banned Wand and Stellarix for defense teams. And the attack team restrictions are essentially bans. So your preference would be to turn Guild Wars into Central Spire PvP?
A ban is a total prohibition that completely forbids an action, item, or person. A restriction is a partial limit that allows an action or item only under certain conditions, times, or for specific groups.
When we are not being able to use troops in guild war that do not fit the current theme, which one of these do you think best fits?
We are being totally prohibited and completely forbidden from an action (using those troops). We are NOT being partially limited from using those troops, NOT able to use them under certain circumstances, NOT able to use them at certain times, NOT able to use them in specific groups.
In short, we are BANNED from using them during guild wars.
I’m so very curious. When you posted this… did you actually read it? Did you think you were making the point you wanted to?
I liked the comment above because it amused me. But you just proved it right. Fully backed it up and confirmed it. Thanks, I guess.
I’m sure you’ll be fine. You’ll just make another gems of war forum account to be out of line with. As if insulting a full country was completely necessary
Change the individual rewards from “win 18 battles” to “play 18 battles”. Until this is done, any suggestions on how to improve Guild Wars are an entirely wasted effort. Players will go beat up the gate, no matter what, because they don’t want miss out on their only realistic chance to gain those legendary shiny tokens.
Just here for the irony of a lecture on use of the English language followed by a botched understanding of an American-born doctrine.
Something something I guess that Guild War didn’t work out so well something something.
Back on topic, this is more akin to restrictions/bans in something like MtG which makes more sense in theory…until factoring that WotC makes in roughly a week (~ $42 million) what GoW has made since its inception (~$45 million).
And you’ll still hear plenty of aggrieved players talking about how they can’t get the balance right amongst its formats.
See, if you’re going to be pedantic, might as well do it right.
Ah, so you did think you were making a point, unaware you actually proved yourself wrong. Very well. Parade around like a pigeon celebrating how smart you are while we all snigger at you for your mistakes. No skin off my nose.
I explained very clearly why your definitions point out exactly why you’re wrong. No point repeating it.
And I agree with them. Somehow you seem to think I didn’t. Maybe you didn’t read my reply, just as you don’t seem to have read what you wrote, yourself. How odd.
“A one thousand”? What kind of English speaker says the phrase “a one thousand”? People in glass houses really shouldn’t be throwing stones.
I can, if I want to. That’s the point of free speech. However, I’m not saying anything is wrong. As I already said, I think it’s correct. And if you understood it, you’d realise you’re the one claiming it’s wrong.
A language is wrong sorry. Well, I said it, whether it was true or not. Don’t you look like a fool.
Why?
What a fascinating level of assumption you’ve climbed on top of to rain down lectures on all around you. I actually very much enjoy the English language. It is my native tongue. Again, it seems you’re the one arguing with it, not me.
Ah, now, you’re twisting facts to try and pin them in the wrong places. And you are wrong. The troops are banned from the entire war. Not every single war ever. Each event is a standalone unit, and we can treat it as such, not string them all into a single thing. You’re trying to change the English language to win an argument.
Good grief, I could spend an hour pointing out every violation of the English language in what you spewed onto the page, but the irony of not even being able to get this segment of a sentence correct while lecturing others about how they can’t understand it, is hilarious. I’m quite convinced you’re having a laugh, because surely no real person could be quite such a fool, quite so arrogant and quite so mistaken at the same time. This must be some elaborate jest.
England, Britain and the United Kingdom do NOT have a 1st amendment. You have the Human Rights Act 1998. If you can’t master your own language, you might at least know your own laws.
You keep proving yourself wrong and none of it even matters. The point was that there are already bans and restrictions affecting guild wars, so if you’re arguing against them, what would you prefer? For the wars to just be Central Spire 2.0? I don’t believe you ever answered that, just pushed off on a tangent that wasn’t important to hide that you have no answer, perhaps. Or will you forget all the nonsense and get back to the topic at hand, saying how you want guild wars to function?
