First off this game is fantasy. We are casting impossible spells from imaginary characters.
You are asking to make the game logical or more based on real life? In that case every character would be human or a real life animal and every ability based on what is real.
I like it the way it is. Some things are a little off, but it is just a game. You figure out how to deal with what the game throws at you.
Also throw a block of ice into a fire. Or pour gas on a block of ice and light it. Either way that block of ice will stay ice for a long time. Given the right elements or circumstances you can also submerge fire in real life.
