Yeah, after a little nervous wait I went for the 3 red combination, and 3 skull gems fell down. 
I remember being in that exact same situation. I also remember I tried … over 1,5-2 hours long. Shortly after that I really wanted to smack myself on the head with a rubber teapot. The battle was never lost or win
