the TLDR I got from the team is - Class trials were always intended to apply the Kingdom restriction to the Weapons, as it is also applied to the Troops. This change came through in 9.1 because we fixed a bug with copying and pasting teams. I am digging up literally any information I can about this being mentioned at any point publicly that Class Trials are always intended to apply Kingdom restriction to the weapons.
