[reported] Targeting on TINA-9000

What you were expecting to happen, and what actually happened:
Expected around 25% distribution on what enemy unit survives, it isn’t even close to that.

How often does this happen? When did it begin happening?
It’s been bugging me for a while since we had an Adana Week, so finally had time to test it.

Steps to make it happen again
My testing was against opponents that died by a single hit of TINA, and I only considered PvP battles where all 4 enemies are still alive by the time she casts. The team is in the screenshot, and so is the absurd distribution whereas almost 80% of the time the top enemy troop survives.

This matters because this biased targeting system may be used in other current or future troops with a ‘random’ target.

:vulcan_salute:

50 test is not enough for many further deductions, but notice how slot 1 is not targeted in the 2nd or 3rd shot by TINA.
 :vulcan_salute:

It’s not quite clear to me what slot 1, 2, 3, 4, alive means.

Are you saying that where all 4 opponents are alive, it only strikes troops 2,3 & 4 in 78% of the casts?

Yes: after TINA casts, the surviving troop is the top troop 78% of the time
:vulcan_salute:

This would be a bit more clear for me if showed the actual targeting order more clearly and not just who is alive - if this is a targeting report

Like yeah I can see 432 is the highest vs 321 didn’t happen in 50 instances

Did u also notice whether troop 1 was stronger or weaker than the others? More or less mana gathered?

There are many troops, that are found to targeting particular troops when they get used in an event or arena (ie when their behaviour shows that they are anything but random).

The targeting order is in the SS, let me know how can I try to clarify it:
e.g. 234 is the order in which Tina hit them: 2nd enemy, then 3rd, then 4th
:vulcan_salute:

oh yeah I get that. I guess its just that the instances and hit order column is the most valuable here

I’ll see if I can get clarity on how these troops are programmed

I think the data would be better if u only included examples where no opponents died on the cast. (This way u avoid changes due to a dying troop).

Kept an eye out for that, but nothing caught my eye enough to start documenting it: surviving troops didn’t seem to have a pattern of more or less mana nor traits.

I focused on easy PvP to ensure they died on a single hit, and of course that meant battles were mostly done before opponents got much chance to move.
:vulcan_salute:

Quite the opposite: I wanted to test with less variables, so the fact that the numbers are so off when it should clearly be ~25% for each segment is quite telling, and saves me from having to test further before making the report.
 :vulcan_salute:

while I wait, this is what I got in 50. Obviously not enough to get an idea of if there is some weird weighting.

seeing as I can repeat test casting in one battle on a dev account with cheats

This is different though, since you are allowing opponents to survive Tina’s hit whereas I focused on avoiding that variable to simplify.
:thinking::folded_hands::vulcan_salute:

Whereas I was eliminating the variable of one opponent dying and potentially interrupting the cast

I got word back from Sirrian that TINA is random in their targeting and she doesn’t have the caveat of try to avoid the same troop back to back.
Which you can see occurs in my 50 battles, and this additional 25 more battles (75 total)

I did also pass on my results to the team as well.

Would you mind if possible testing Tina with opponents who die on a single hit, and see if you can get a single instance of Tina hitting Slot 1 on its 2nd or 3rd shot?

I’m still unable to get that to happen, and this would explain the ~ 75% survival rate for the troop in slot 1.

The issue could arise from the retargeting upon death that was implemented at some point for Tina.
:crossed_fingers::vulcan_salute:

I’m marking this as reported, as yeah I believe I can see some weirdness if TINA kills the first opponent it hits and it no longer targets opponent troop 1

not sure if it will get resolved or resolved too soon, everything around the spell order and targeting system seems pretty fragile and likely would need a total overhaul. Especially as there are other troops in similar ways with issues with spells being interrupted after opponent death
