As shown on this screenshot the side quest is A) invisible and B) inaccessible.
This is a screenshot taken in the Khaziel kingdom but the same thing happens in a few other kingdoms.
I’m assuming you know this, but you can also click the arrow to switch to the side quest.
Either way this was definitely something important to have bug reported 
If you have a list of any kingdoms you see a battle node covered, please share them
But as Namick mentions, you don’t need to interact the the Map in explore at all, there is the pop up with the Fight button you can switch between Explore battles or Side Quests
