You might be right about that. Took me years to reach level 1000 (while being kind of in endgame areas the whole time), so I did not take into account, that this works much faster today, while the other catchup mechanics still don’t.
With Tesla being a thing, a lot of that goes out the window
There are several teams that can out-loop even a very high level player when just starting out, Tesla team is just one of them. Seekra/Chalcedony/etc. are also an option, goblins could always out-loop high-level enemies. It all comes down to patience with the loopers. And we get a VP bonus for achieving extra turns…
And that’s part of the problem. Even low level teams can loop a high level to death especially when we are talking about attack teams not teams set for a defence. One thing that would help with points would be to base it on team score rather than player level.
I think it is based on team score, at least the old PvP system was. That doesn’t really help though, team score is something that automatically grows with your account, even if you don’t actually get stronger in any noticeable way. For all practical purposes, “team score” really means “team score penalty”, there’s no way to lower it (except going guildless).
At hero level 1700+ (and almost 1400 for my alt), I no longer have patience for loopers that hit with wet noodles, haven’t had in a long while. that’s the privilege of new players
Due to how long it takes to load just the battle options I doubt even more than 4 battles are possible in 2 minutes currently.
Just to rub it in… 83 battles versus 83 battles, for the most part I tried to pick highest VP scoring battles out of those offered. There are no words for this unfairness.
Ill throw in my 2 cents that i am level 1480, and i see 90VP fights quite often, normally at least once every 3 fights, with the occasional 2 of them in the same choice. My average base VP that i fight against is somewhere around 75-80.
I tried to start paying attention to the player level when fighting them and they are always close to if not over 2000. If someone can confirm that you are fighting someone around level 2000 and NOT getting 90VP base for it, this would confirm that YOUR player level (compared to the opponents) affects the base VP.
If this is the case, it DEFINITELY needs to be changed. Its already 70+ battles to max the PvP goals for the week with ~75 base VP per fight, if people are really experiencing an average of ~35 base VP… thats just flat out unfair requiring them do more than 1.5 times as many battles.
It’s level. I’m at 2276 and get only 25VP up to about 1660.
I get 39VP vs level 2001. 43VP vs 2091. and 87VP vs level 2775.
It wouldn’t be a problem if the fights were against players your level.
But 90% of the time, I’m looking at a choice of 3 fights for 25VP.
And it’s got to be worse for those with even higher levels.
And the silly thing is, a level 2980 is no tougher than a 2000. And maybe a couple of stat points higher than a level 1600, but no harder to defeat.
yea, that makes this a very bad system. Gems is, once again, punishing the people who play it the most
Everything else with the update has been great in general though, except for the lack ways to gain gold marks, and that silver marks will be next to useless within like 3 months, which i hope will be mitigated with some of the other things they plan on adding.
I just had the choice between
-level 1323, team score 17000+ for 38 VP (middle)
-level 1353, team score 9000+ for 40 VP (left)
while I’m 1600+ myself
As a player over the 2850 mark in terms of level, I had to do a whopping 128 pvp fights last week just to get all 20 goals done for the new achievements. Every opponent under level 2100 only awarded me the minimum of 25 base VP, and the vast majority of opponents I’ve been offered are nowhere close to that level. This is so ridiculous that I’m not even gonna bother with grinding out all pvp goals anymore, as it takes too many fights to get them all done.
Exactly this.
Out of 30 (I sure hope I counted correctly - looks like 10 locations) available opponents only 4 give more than 25 base points and one of them is 27, so, in essence, we can safely make it 3/30…they sure take their sweet time in actively punishing and screwing over high level players.
No one with a sane mind would click around all locations before every fight looking for the best score, so we’re stuck with measly crumbs.
Just look at those swings - going for leaderboard with that is like jumping on one leg while your rivals run.
you can even see that astria has MORE than 1.5x as many battles won, and is only like 20% more score than sabrina. that is a HUGE advantage to lower level players. Also the 1st and 2nd place being <20 battles apart with a 20,000 score difference. those extra 14 fights they won would be worth about 1500 points each lol. This is disgusting and absolutely needs to be changed.
Or looking at the top 4’s average VP per win, by level
2132 → 61.94
1981 → 64.27
1724 → 75.25
1515 → 88.58
I also have Poxmel in my ladder (but you are not) who
started the week on 11571 points
He stayed on 11571 until yesterday
And has in the last few minutes played 1 match and added 114 points
How can Poxmel be in 2 ladders ?
When the week ends will he be awarded both 1st place AND 2nd place prizes ?
(assuming he does not add enough to his original erroneous score to beat me)
I wonder how many other ladders he is featuring in and how many #1 prizes he is likely to collect at the end if the week.
From the patch notes:
It’s important to note that these groups of players in Leagues are not symmetrical – just because a player is in your group of 30, does not imply you will automatically be in their group of 30. While we are seeding people into Leagues, in the early days of this system, you may find that some players in your group of 30 are actually in a different League to you – this is expected, and should resolve after some time has passed.
I think it works like this: we have 30 people in our bubble and WE get rewards based on our placement in our bubble. But the people that are our 29 have their own separate bubbles and get rewards based on their placement in their own bubble, in which we may or may not participate.
In other words: Poxmel (or NOLA, I have them in my bubble too) doesn’t know that we have them in our bubbles and are competing against them in the bubble, they only care about the placement in their own bubble. They don’t see our score - unless we are in their bubble too, which we don’t know about.
Nope - still do not get it (exploding head emoji)
So if Poxmel finishes 2nd on my ladder and first on your ladder what prize will he get ?
I can see his score - assuming his score is the one he actually has in his own bubble.
If his score does not count in my bubble then why am I trying to out score him in my bubble to get the first prize ?
